Ok, so I was reading here how people make their own "dread rinses" and homemade stuff. Well, I have many herbs growing in my backyard, so I wanted to give it a try. All these plants I used are entirly organic also. I chopped up all the leaves really well. I used: -Mint leaves and flowers. Alot of them -Lemon Balm leaves. (Smells like lemon). Low growing plant. -Chamomile. Heck, I have heard alot about it's properties and I thought it would sooth the scalp. I only added a tiny little bit. -Salt -Lemon juice Does this sound good??
If it dosnt burn i dont see why not? On a serious note, you should be careful with makeing these things and useing them. You could stumble accross some strong stuff (that why i dont bother with, also im lazy). But if you think you know what your doing... well... i cant stop ya... but only warn...
haha it sounds pretty good to me, get ur dreads nice and tight with that salt and lemon juice and they will smell nice!!!
It sounds like a nice blend. Though i dont know anything about herbs hehe. A thought, only, is that i maybe would've separated the lemon/salt blend to use in the tips of my hair, and the herbs for my scalp. You're really lucky to have all those herbs in your backyard! *mmm wants a kitchen herb garden when i get my own place*
yea we cook with them and stuff so should I just put it in and then rinse it out? or leave it in? or what? p.s.- I have Chamomile, Hyssop, Parsley, Mint (spearmint and peppermint), lemon thyme, lemon balm, catnip, chives and i think even licorice because i have this plant that smells just like licorice.
Is the solution an oil or a soap? if it's an oil, then you can leave it in. The oil will also control frizing. If it's a soap, then I'd wash it out. I need to make something like this because I've been using Dr. Bronnor's eucyliptus(sp?) hemp soap. It works amazingily, but it'd be nice to make additional oils to help my scalp. Do you mind if I use your recipe?
Snyfin: Leaving it in or rinsing it out depends entirely on what you are trying to do. Additionally, I suggest following the above recommendation of just saltwater and lemon blend for the locks themselves, and using the herbs for your scalp. Chamomile I know has a beneficial quality, as does tea tree oil. I would leave the saltwater and lemon blend on the locks, and only wash it out when you wash your hair. For the scalp, I would treat it like a treatment: maybe apply it an hour or so before you wash your hair and scalp? You want as little as possible residue in your hair, as it will sincerely aggravate your scalp and your locking process. Good luck, Snyfin, and wish me the same! I'm locking my hair this weekend! Namaste!
Yes! You can use it! I did it and it worked very good! basically I just just got my hair damp with it, dried it a tiny bit, then left it on for about 40 minutes. When I rinsed it all off, it already looked a bit wavier/curlier/ and crazier!!
Hey, whatever works for you. I wouldn't do it, just because I have this awesome teatree shit that I'm addicted to.
