Found these chairs rusting in the trash, it's my first try at furniture. I think my girls will love them.

Nice. I'm guessing you painted and recovered. Is that needlepoint?

I took off the seat, painted them and used old sheets to cover them. I used this stuff my aunt gave me to back the sheets with vinyl.
Those sheets are from the 80's, I like the original Strawberry Shortcake.

I actually saw a chair just like that rusting at a garage sale the other day.....I knew that I could have done something cool with it, but I didn't bother.......seeing those made me realize i should have bought it!!!!!!

Dumpster diving is my specialty. I live in a college town, so when all the students move out of their apartments and shit for the summer, they just throw so much shit in the trash! Mostly big stuff that they don't want to lug home, like couches and chairs and futons.... damn rich kids. Oh well, more furniture for MY house!

I love to dumpster dive! Got most of our furniture either out of the dumpster, or free. Sometimes its amazing what you can do with someones old trash and a can of spray paint. I am now working on the girls room. We painted a chalkboard on the back and then I painted around it with some faux copper paint, its pretty and sparkly and they love it! I am going to stencil some vines on the door. They said they want a unicorn, flowers, fairy, rainbow theme, so I have plenty to work with. I'm still working on the dollhouse, so things are busy here.
I would love to see what others do with the things they find laying in the trash.
