is this a regular slug or something else???? I found it killing this girl in my clone dome. if it's a slug, how the hell did it get in there? Is it safe to use safer 3 in 1 on clones that haven't shown roots yet? HELP!
ok, so I freaked alittle bit with that lil fucker. But now that I have done some reading, I think it might be a fungus gnat larva? I put a tater slice in each pot just to be on the safe side. I also found these round egg or cacoon lookin things in a couple pots, any ideas on these? the pop when you squeeze um and tend to squirt for the eyes(it still stings alittle) I saw little black flying things around some of the pots, maybe a mm or 2, barely able to see them at all cept for the flying spec of black. I heard SM90 works great so I'll prolly order some. I heard on another forum that those hot shot pest strips from home depot work, has anyone tried them or looked into them?
DO NOT USE PEST STRIPS. They are toxic and are banned for use around anyplace where food is prepared and living spaces. It's like contantly misting your plants with Raid. Would you want to smoke Raid-coated buds? And I'm not just talking about taste; that poison can fuck up your health. There are a wide variety of safe, toxic only to pests insecticides available. Look for products that say "can be used up til day of harvest" on the label. These insecticides include neem-oil and pyrethium-based products and insecticidal soap. You need to use insecticides every other day for 2 weeks, to break the life cycle (most insecticides don't affect eggs). You should also take steps to prevent a re-infestation. Wtf is that slice of potato there for?
That's what I thought about the pest stips, thanks for confirming that. lol, I heard that one way to combat fungus gnats was to put a slice of tater on the soil. the theory being that the larva will probly be more attracted to eating the tater slice than the roots, as well as the adults laying eggs on the slice. After a few days ya toss the tater slice and all of the larva and eggs on it. Is that an urban myth? I figured it was a worth a shot since it'll be a few days alteast till I can get some sm90
And is SM90 safe enough for me to use in the clone dome? I was reading the description of it and it sounds like a great thing to mix into regular feeding for the girls. And maybe mix in with the baby food? (I use olivia's)
