The first time I had sex with my girlfriend we didn't have much time to be alone and we rented a place and fucked for an hour... we didn't use a condom and I pulled out at the end. Yes, yes, I know you can *still* get pregnant that way, but she didn't. I was wondering though how much LESS the chance of getting pregnant is, since when you're fucking you DO release sperm, but not in the vast quantity that you do when you're cumming.

It's not reliable. I wouldn't take that chance, just use a condom.

There is a lot of misinformation about withdrawal out there, and it can be challenging to figure out what is accurate information and what is not. The most up-to-date information tells us that withdrawal is about 96% effective when it is practiced correctly, and every time you have sex (this is called perfect use). That means if 100 couples use withdrawal perfectly for a year, about 4 of them will get pregnant. When withdrawal is not practiced consistently and correctly (this is called typical use), it is only about 81% effective. That means that out of 100 couples, about 19 women would get pregnant. This rate is about the same as the diaphragm.

Practicing withdrawal correctly can be challenging. A man needs to be able to tell when he's about to ejaculate (“come”). This is sometimes more difficult to do for younger men who have less experience with their bodies. It also takes a lot of self-control, since a man needs to pull out of his partner’s vagina before he ejaculates. Finally, withdrawal will not protect you or your partner from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Only a condom will protect you! For these reasons, we generally don’t recommend withdrawal to our clients, especially teens.

Yeah, I can understand that, but if you're with your fiance and you are both clean, then it seems that that wouldn't be a concern... the pregnancy issue though of course would :p

Interesting. I would have to trust the person I was with like 200% to do this. Being 17 I wouldn't take the chance, it seems to easy to get to into it and then, "whoops I cam in you." But I guess, if you do trust the person, then aparently it is effective. My bad.

hey i jsut copy and pasted, i didnt want to misquote anything so i did the whole article, im sure most people should know the withdrawal method won't protect you against stds

i'd also like to add that it wont protect you against temptation, as i am a bit of a lush and love to cave into temptation i highly doubt this would be an effective BC method for me. it can be very tempting sometimes...heat of the moment, talking dirty to eachother, the risqueness of it, the ultimate taboo. withdrawal is clearly a bc method for the strong willed

I got pregnant once from withdrawal -- he pulled out before he came, but ... guess what ... ! :&

Then again I am one of the unluckiest people on earth ... if there is an exception to any rule you know it will happen to me!

Used it all the way through the longest relationship I've been in (6 years) - never a problem. And yes, I am fertile.

One thing to remember is that even if the guy hasn't ejaculated (had an orgasm) yet, there is going to be precum on the tip of the penis. That would be a big enough risk for me not to rely on pulling out as a form of birth control. Google Cowper's Gland and see what you get.
