does pruning make the buds grow faster?

    as u already might know a foaf has a 6 foot plant we are afraid itll bud to slow since its massive and have hundreds of little premature buds and then the killing frost will freeze the plant,, soo could i prune the plant to make it bud faster? if so how much should i prune? is it bad to just cut off parts of the plant since it has stored energy?>?

    Pruning will retard budding and reduce yield.
