So, I was sitting in my English class today, minding my own buisiness, and thinking about coming out to my parents, when I overheard a conversation about two new male students coming to the school. These were all football players that were talking about it, mind you. So, one says "I hope that they at least play football." and another says "It'd be funny if they were both GAY or something!" That in itself was frustrating, but then another student says "If they were, I'd PUNCH them both in the face!" I was so infuriated! I'm not sure if I should mention to him that I am gay, or just let it go. Surely someone else has run into a situation like this.
I run into stuff like that all the time, but not stuff like just because their gay but "if they hit on me" usually kind of thing, and the funny thing is it is usually said by a really ugly guy that would never get hit on by most guys who are gay nevermind girls and who has a bad personality , so I wouldn't worry about it.
theres always going to be ignorant people around, another classic is when people rant about how bad a religion is in public without thinking that there might be people around who differ to them and are that religion. its like people think that the world feels and thinks exactly like them, as a rule of thum, if you think someone is going to be in danger from a remark you have heard, i.e you hear people making plans to gay bash someone then report it and if you have a friend or family member who makes an ignorant remark, then if you are comfortable challenge them, otherwise don't waste your energy, cause its not like they really care S
actually have you thought the other person might have said the 'it would be funny if they where gay' to test the water and see how far his friend excepted it? S
Coming out to football players is always kind of tricky. More than anybody else in high school, they tend to have a need to put up a big macho front. Even if they're personally cool with gay people, they're reluctant to let their friends know. This post makes me curious about the two new male students. Do they give off gay vibes? Are they attractive? Maybe the best thing to do is to get to know them, but not tell them what the football players said.
