Lamb of God's new cd, Sacrament, came out last tuesday. i bought it, and yet another great Lamb of God cd. I highly suggest this new one. Any other satisfied customers?
amazing album, and redneck is one of my all-time favourite songs. "THIS IS A MUTHAFUCKIN INVITATION!!!!" anyone seen the video? haha...
I liked the "Redneck" song. I didn't like the "this is a motherfucking invitation" part, i think they could have said something better than that in it. very pantera sounding otherwise, but i didnt like the rest of the album so much. I can't get into randy's voice at all, unfortunately
"this is a muthafuckin invitation" is one of ma fav parts of that song to be honest. and pantera have been taken influences from for ages - lamb of god are pretty fukin original. and the singer's voice is unnatural, out of this world. in one song he sounded as if he was singing with cheesewire round his neck and razorblades in his throat. any other lamb of god fans reckon the vocalist takes influence from dez fafara (devildriver/coal chamber)? it's inevitable..
Lamb of god Isnt christian metal...There first name was Burn the priest. And the song Vigil off of As the Palaces Burn is all about denouncing your god. Saying there christian metal is like saying stryper worshiped satan. But Sacarment is a great album. A little different from what Im used to with them but still a masterpeice. My favorite song has to be Rise.
Seems like severed was just taking a shot at guessing what they were based on the name... I hear they had to change the name in order to play shows when they were just starting out cuz no establishment would have a band play that was named burn the priest, or something like that.
Oh. I read a review on the internet a couple of years ago calling them "crappy christian metal", so i never bothered to listen to them.
Well someones not the brightest crayon in the box. I am a satisfied customer. Redneck is a badass song !!
Yes, i did. There's so many bands out there that actually listening to all of them would take far more time than i have, so if i can narrow them down a bit and most of the time get music that i enjoy i'll be happy. If i read somewhere that so and so isn't worth listening to, i'm not going to listen to them untill i hear otherwise. Since reading this thread i got As The Palaces Burn and i'm liking it. If i went around downloading music at random it's probably a fair bet that i wouldn't listen to half of it more than once.
well yno, has the thought ever occured to you that the opinion of someone writing a view and your own opinion could differ completely? what's the speed of your internet connection? you can download single songs through p2p file sharing programs in a minute or so. a quick listen, make your mind up, there you go. i made the mistake of judging bands by magazine reviews years ago, until someone wrote a negative review on children of bodom's "are you dead yet". well fuck that, that album's one of the best I own. the only way to judge a band, or anything that matter, is by listening to or experiencing it yourself, then forming opinions. keep doing that and eventually, you'll miss out on a band that you could of ended up liking.
I blame Jagermeister for that one. I use my fathers laptop, my desktop carked it, and he doesnt like p2p programs because he thinks you get viruses from them, i've tried to convince him to download soulseek but he doesn't want to take the risk. I'm sure there are hundreds of bands that i'd like that i havn't heard yet. I'm also sure there are thousands that i havn't heard that i wouldn't like.
^forgot to say that i need the administrators password to install new software on this computer, or things might be different. What new music i get i get friends to burn for me, or once in a blue moon i buy an album.
lol, fair enough ah well you didnt mention that... and if you're worried about encountering virsuses through p2p software, http://www.frostwire.com/ might just be the answer to your problems. i understand completely where he's coming from though, as i lost all the data on my computer through limewire. exactly, listening and forming your own opinion is the key. but, given your situation, i suppose reviews are the only way to go.
Which wouldn't be a bad thing per se since you don't know that you'd like it if you tried, because you didn't. You'll feel none the worse. I have a few people at hand of whom I know they have a reliable music taste matching mine almost exactly. I check what they listen to ever so often and if there's something I don't know yet I know that it's probably worth a try, because those people have consistently similar tastes to mine. And I also have that I check reviews of albums (mostly at myrrthronth.de, whose only problem is that it doesn't list NS bands, and allmusic.com for rock and folk and stuff), and if it doesn't sound like it'd suit me I don't try it, and the other way around. I know what I like and what I don't like. So yeah I base my opinions to some degree on reviews etc. too.
I've been on blabbermouth.net for so long that I can not trust a review. To me, the best way to see if an album is worth anything is to take it off a torrent. If its good, buy it and support music, if its not, let it be.
If the review gives a short objective description of what the music sounds like, possibly with bands it seems influenced by mostly etc., before portraying the reviewer's opinion, that can give a good idea of whether I like it or not. And from the subjective opinion you can still gleam into what it would soud like, roughly, most of the time.
