My school restarts in 2 weeks, and I had a meeting with my principal to discuss my dreadies. Try as I might, he's firm on making me remove them. :(.

So here's my question (I hope to never have to ask this again): What's the easiest way to remove my lovely locks?

    With a heavy heart,

Do you go to a private school?

Scissors, conditioner, and a comb. How long you have had them in will dictate how much hair you will be able to recover.

I'm sorry to hear about your dilemma.

Dang...I guess I'm rebellious. Even if someone told me I had to take them out I'd fight them tooth and nail until they just gave up and decided it's not worth the time. I wouldn't take mine out simply because some "authority figure" told me to.

first off they can not do that!!! dreads are a religous thing!!! If middle eastern and black people can have dreads then why can't everyone else? Teachers can have dreads!!! what type of school do you go to?

Unless its a private school that specifically disallows dreadlocks in their dress code, I would say making you remove them is discriminatory and would be against your rights to do so.

Don't do it! You'll regret it! Say it's religious and they can't make you take them out. :(

Is there anyway you could be homeschooled?

On another note, it makes me grateful to be in college. They could care less about my looks...

right on, im the same way!! thats exactly why im already protesting against the school and its only been 8 days since we've started haha. you have to fight for your rights, ur school should have the no discrimination rule there hopefully, and u can fight against it saying its a hairstyle. and i dont understand why u cant have ur dreads?!?!?! this is really bothering me, if u were my kid i would tell that principal to fu*k off and then transfer u to a better school haha. just go to school with dreads anyways. DONT CUT THEM!!!!!

that suks big time :-( fight them to the end !!! but first of all
you need to get a copy of the schools regulations, & if it doesn't say anything about dreads, then throw that in their face & tell them that if the still persist on you taking them out you will go to the authorities for discrimination !!!!!

    Totally fight it!

There is no reason that dreadlocks should not be allowed! I can understand if your at a private school and your not allowed to have rainbow colored hair ... but dreadlocks are a spiritual journey within oneself ... Nobody can tell you that's not allowed.

Just go to school with them ... the worst that can happen is you get transfered to a better, more openminded, and indivuality friendly school.

If your school sees your persistance, they just might let you keep your dreads ... When I fisrt started dreading my hair, my boss pretty much told me I could not have them if I wanted to keep my job ... 10 months later i'm assistant manager.

Best of luck to you ... :)
