Kerry - Served in vietnam, Worked his way to yale, happened to marry Theresa Heinz and yes they have money. Edwards - Came from a poorer background in North Carolina, worked his way to become a lawyer. Bush - Joined Texas Air National guard, supposedly AWOL for a year along with one of his friends. His father, George H. W. Bush, was the CIA director during the time of kennedy's assasination and during the cuban missile crisis. Oswald supposedly had ties with communists. Kennedy happened to be in an open limousine the day he died. The first dubya ignored the tips that someone was going to assasinate kennedy. Getting back to the point, George W. Bush was gone for a year, supposedly with one of his best friends. George Bush later used daddy's fortune to get into yale... then in the 80s, started his oil company with none other than the guy he was missing with in the texas air national guard. Now... where were they? My theory is that they were making deals with the saudis and the bin laden family on oil. They scratched each others backs, they give him money, they keep the bush family in office so they can make fucked up laws and bills while fronting all the businesses, the saudis, and the oil companies. Oh, wait, I almost left out Dick Cheney, the VP of halliburton (dealing in oil)... excuse me if I'm wrong but aren't they in charge of the rebuild of Iraq AND before that, weren't they also in charge of building an oil pipeline through the entire middle east running into.. I believe the black sea, red sea, or the caspian sea. Can't remember. Not to mention Enron (an energy company) and Ken Lay who commited fraud and embezzling fronting the majority of George W. Bush's campaign funding... Ken Lay happens to be considered a part of the Bush family. Also, they were involved with energy companies in california which supposedly shut down power plants in CA because of a drought and heat wave a few years ago (remember that?)... they supposedly did it to drive energy demand and somehow raise their stock by being able to supply their demands. Now, who looks like the less shady person in the bunch, kerry wins my vote (can't vote anyway... whatever) because of this. Of course, he could be just as bad, but considering the bush absence and the fishy bullshit with a friend (also supposedly awol at the time) who gave him a loan for his oil and energy company... I think he would be a good purson to nudge George W's hairy monkey ass out of office. Whuddya say?
Orsino, Kerry has stated that he will send MORE troops to Iraq, and recently said that he would have voted for Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq even if it wasn't a threat to the US. I personally find him far more dangerous than Bush, because the US world agenda will go forward no matter who is in office, but if Kerry is elected, you'll have a whole country of democrats who will go back to sleep and assume everything is beautiful just because Bush is gone. I'm voting for Nader.
I don't think one vote is going to make a big change... I'd love to have nader... I just think that he doesn't have a chance getting in... as always.
I think Bush is more dangerous then Kerry. Bush, in his first term alone, has made reckless and hazerdous decisions, like getting involved in two wars, lied to the American people, allowed corporation to regulate emissions at will alone, signing a bill banning third term abortion without a loophole for mothers in danger, and much MUCH MORE. If he is re-elected, and does not have to worry about appeasing people to win a second term, I really don't want to know what he's going to do next. So Kerry gets my disgusted vote as the slightly lesser of two evils.
Orsino, you are obviously a pretty intelligent guy for your age. But I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you. In my opinion, Kerry's inability to differentiate himself from Bush - especially on foreign policy - is just downright scary. It's scary to know where this shit is going to lead us. A perfect example is just this past week, when Kerry admitted that he would have approved the invasion of Iraq, even if he had known that no WMD's would be found. And to think that the countries we have ticked off are suddenly going to join in this battle if Kerry is elected is just naive. Bush has alienated us so much from the rest of the world that it's going to take a hell of a lot of more than just hollow, empty talk to repair things. I think it's pretty pathetic that so many of these phony, so-called anti-war people can be so supporting of Kerry. It's like he's going to all of a sudden bring some drastic change to this enormous pile of horseshit that Bush has gotten us into. It's not going to happen. From what I can see, Kerry has the same idioitic and unrealistic plan for Iraq that Bush has. It's a plan that is never going to work, and will most likely leave this country bankrupt in the not-so-far future.
I despise the fact that this election, more than any other, is so based on charistma and personal background. The candidates are completely focused towards the politicly ignorant majority whenever they give speeches, trying to win votes based on personal charsitma. Other elections at least showed some interest towards the politicly aware part of the population. The candidates are ofcourse doing the politicly right thing by targeting the majority, but I have seen a very limited amount of speeches directed towards the more intelligent elite that it disgusts me. The candidates' background will not determine how well they will function as President or VP, their stands on major issues will.
God damn I am so sick of explaining this to everyone, but I will not stop until someone actually gets it. Just one fucking person is all I ask! Ok bare with me here people because I know this is a hard concept to grasp. If you are voting and you actually believe your vote counts (I'm voting and I don't believe they count) then why not vote for who you really believe in and who you really want to win. If everyone who thought the way you do voted for Nader, then for Christs sake he would be president. Hell he would have been president last election if people voted for what they actually believed in. I know you can't vote, but for those of you who think along these lines vote for Nader (or another 3rd party candidate that you really want in office) then it is possible for change. I'm so sick of this fucking apathetic mediocre country. It isn't just one vote, it is everyone's vote. If there are more for Nader then he wins (lol, unless of course...) I can't believe people have been so brainwashed to think otherwise. It is one thing to be cynical and think your vote doesn't count, it is a completely different story when you buy into the bullshit that Bush and Kerry differ from each other.
Yes, I believe that is very true... I just believe you can't always get what you want... and it seems as if there's two major parties fighting (as always) and it's not going to count if your vote will be metaphorically thrown out, so I must have to say... even though I don't want to, that I'll have to run with "the lesser of the evils"... I know a congresswoman who ran as a republican to get into office because her district is majority republican... so she had to kiss some ass on both sides to get in but her policies reflect that of a liberal person.
Sir Rubin hit the nail on the head. Who really gives a fuck what Bush did when he was younger, or what Kerry did after Vietnam, or what company Cheney used to work for, or who Edwards defended in court? It's like the media is treating our candidates the same way they treat celebrities, not giving a fuck about what it is they actually do but counting on the people only being interested in their personal lives and secrets (which don't matter whatsoever in an election).
You can't get anything you want... or deserve if you don't fight for it. Go ahead play their little game just like they want you to. In the end, you lose and they win.
I've been thinking lately, does it really fucking matter? No matter who wins all the people who worked in the white house and congress and whatever other buildings there are before dubya was elected will still be there. Does it fucking matter? Where's Pigasus the Immortal when he's needed the most?
I'm glad he's running again. He's got my vote too. It's a shame he has to have a certain percentage of the vote to debate w/ major parties. I think he's a much smarter man than Kerry and Bush combined.....times ten.
I agree whole heartedly, and it's funny that you mention that. Here in Indiana, we actually had a vote for county come out to be a tie. The favorite was ruled the loser and the incumbant given the victory. They interviewed a bunch of people that said "I wish I would've voted, we could have gotten him out of office. I just figured one vote wouldn't have mattered", so remember, sometimes that one vote is ALL that matters
