I feel incredibly guilty because it's my father's birthday today, and I just ate some cake with him. I know that it has eggs and everything in it, and I am trying to stay away from eggs. I also suspect gelatin being somewhere in there like the icing. Part of the reason I know is I always get extremely queasy if I accidently slip and eat something that has gelatin in it. The same goes with eggs though, so I don't know. Anyway, they kept telling me to have a slice over and over, and I usually have a lot of self-control, but today I didn't. It wasn't just that though, I wanted to share a piece of cake for my dad's birthday because it is obviously a tradition. I have a question though. I know I am not going to be eating cake on my birthday because it made me feel incredibly sick, but is there any places to get cakes that are safe of eggs and gelatin? I am thinking of just making one for myself on my birthday, but if I tell my family that, they will insist that they are going to make it, and they do not know much about alternatives for eggs and such to say the least. Thanks.

Thanks, drumminmama for the link :) ! Austin_09, gelatin is made from boiled bones, skins, and tissues of animals.

  6. Hi Austin. Try www.vegweb.com as well. Bear in mind, too, that some cakes don't need substitutes - I've got a chocolate cake recipe like that.

    Good luck with it. :)
