I was introduced to this through Lucretius' On the Nature of the Universe

I found its basic foundations very interesting...especially its ultimate goal of reaching a state of ataraxia (inner tranquility/free of anxieties) and living in a state of lathe biosas (a simple/unnoticed living)

Anyway, I found Lucretius really dry..and, frankly, boring. His poetic verse seemed to unnecessarly confuse what he was getting at. So, can anyone recommend any books, not necessarily by Greek/Roman writers, but by contemporary authors, that offer insight on this philosophy?
