Hey everyone, I am planning on starting natural dreadlocks pretty soon, but the problem is that I have layered hair. The top layer is about 5 inches, and the bottom layer is about 7 or 8. Anyways, if I did the natural dread method, would the layers make my dreads look really funky, like having way shorter dreads on top and longer dreads on bottom, or would the layers on top combine with the layers on bottom and blend in? Should I wait for my hair to grow out and trim the bottom to make all one length? I was just wondering, cause I wanna get the dreads started soon! Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks!

Your going to have small to tiny dreads on top (depending on how thick they are)...
But I think that would be a cool effect to try out. I think you should go for it, it would be totally interesting to see the final project...

I don't think it would matter, the locks at the side and the back will probably shrink more because of sleeping and stuff, so maybe they'll be similar lengths later?

Yeah, it doesn't really matter about lengths and crap. I have two in the back of my head that are phat as fuck, but short!! And I love em! Once they grow out, they'll be the same length as the rest of my hair, and CONGO, baby!
