BRISBANE, Australia (AP) Australian media says TV's "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin has been killed in a marine accident.
THE Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is dead. He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest. He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that' is when it occured. Mr Irwin's body was being flown to Cairns. Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas. It is believed Mr Irwin's American-born wife Terri is trekking on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania and has yet to be told of her husband's death. Mr Irwin - known worldwide as the Crocodile Hunter - is famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry "Crikey!". The father of two's Crocodile Hunter program was first broadcast in 1992 and has been shown around the world on cable network Discovery. He has also starred in movies and has developed the Australia Zoo wildlife park, north of Brisbane, which was started by his parents Bob and Lyn Irwin.
I don't watch TV. So i only just found out. It will be big news i think, he was such a lively guy......so sad.
i fail to see how this is at all funny... its tragic, he has 2 kids, one is only like 3 yrs old. i nearly started crying when i saw the news segment about it.
Krikey! man im gonna miss that guy and his shows on animal planet..... he was my hero but what a manly way to die......thats up their with having your head crushed by an eliphant or getting eaten alive by lions...... he went out like the crocodile hunter we knew and loved.....
