It was Roy Wood that had left the band...when he split Lynne became the leader. I love Out Of The Blue(1977). I remember the album was a double and the gatefold was awesome. Now it is just a single cd. I miss albums(sigh) . I also love Face The Music(1975). ELO is on my list of bands to see live before I die. They played twice in 2002. Did anyone see either show? Jeff Lynne had a great solo album Armchair Theater(1990). And TheTraveling Wilbury's had a good career. Right now he's working with Tom Petty again. I am a big fan of anything that Jeff Lynne puts his ideas into. I think he has a true musical gift. And who else could look this groovy?
I like ELO quite a bit. I wouldn't say I love them...yet...but since I'm a Beatles Follower I can hear Beatley influences. I also really, really, really love Jeff Lynne's production on George Harrison's "Cloud Nine" and "Brainwashed" albums, and Tom Petty's "Full Moon Fever". He took that Phil Spector Wall-of-Sound thing and turned it so that it still sounded full, but didn't overrun the vocals like what happened in "All Things Must Pass" where it had a rich quality, but the vocals were practically buried. Hmmmm.... I think I have "A New World Record" on vinyl. Maybe I'll go dig it out. ~Layla
yea man, there totally an interessting band, though i didnt hear mention of my personal favourite song for every rainy day"mr.blue sky"
I likes ELO. Fav song of mine was always Fire on High from the Face the Music album, but there are many other top notch songs in their catalogue.
