Can cuttings be taken from a mature budded female after harvest? I grew from clones this year instead of seed for the first time, so I started to wonder if I can keep the same plants going for a winter indoor thingie by cloning some of the lower branches with the iddy biddy buds. Or is it just better to use a female in vegetative mode for clones? What are the perks and the pitfalls?

Hey Howdy Lady Green! Tryan take yer cuttings off of veg plants. Cloning from a flowering plant may give ya geniticly dammaged cuttings. Dont forget, when a plants flowering its dieing. Flowerings the last function the plant dose before it dies. Why would ya wanna take a clone off of a dieing plant. Some of its genes mighta degraded already depending on how far into flowering it is. You could do it but ya cant expect profesional results. Just tryan take cuttings off of vegging plants. It better for everyone involved :) .

another thing you can try is re-vegging, if you can re-veg your plants then cloning will be alot more sucessful. I haven't heard much about genes degrading in flowering, just that the sucess rate is alot lower. you can always give it a shot, worse that could happen is that you loose a few of the smaller buds. good luck.

This was all an afterthought after stripping the first couple of plants. Really nice nugs and the hindsight thought bubble, "Man, I should have taken clones off that one...and that one....and that one..." LOL

Cloning is really new to me. I'm one of the old sprout 'em put 'em outside and watch 'em rocket to the sky kind of peeps. So these clones we raised this year are really good but never got near as big as what I usually get from seeds. I'll forego attempting too many clones off of these since they're so ripe.

Next round is going to be one serious attempt at an indoor grow for winter. New clones and journey into a new adventure in cultivation. Figure I'm going to be picking everyone's brains for the right way to do this. Waaaay different from outdoor growing.
