This guy is great. Really loud agressive snare-heavy tunes. www.vsnares.com

I have some Radium remixes of Hellfish stuff. Radium is fuckin' crazy aswell. Much more conventional but still arse-shakingly good. Noizefucker is good too..but a bit much for me.

Some Venetian Snares is wicked, some is pretty dross to be honest. His live sets are even more hit and miss than his productions too!

Fully recomend Rossz Csillag Alatt Született, Chocolate Wheelchair Album and Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972 - 2006 amoungst a few other bits.

    Seconded.

I've seen him play some cracking sets and some fairly average ones. He threw a childish little fit when I saw him at Glade festival a couple of weeks ago because the soundsystem wasn't loud enough. Arrogant rockstar wanker walked off stage and had to be brought back on by one of the organisers apologising for the levels (it wasn't loud but people were enjoying it. The only person really bothered by it was him).

It's funny when I see people on here talking about Scotch Egg and Shitmat and all the Wrong Music crew cos all that lot are mates of mine and I remember them playing tiny gigs in the Freebutt a few years ago. It's mad to think they're popular outside of Brighton, let alone the UK. I always just think of them as local mashup folk. Ketamine krew. Fair play!

i also agree venetian snares = some good, some bad. Its a little too monotonous for my personal tastes....i like Spoonbill alot, although not really Snare like. But they are worth a listen...I just recently got a hold of one of his albums (Nestegg) and really enjoy it. It has a lot of elements, but very original.

Agreed, his newer stuff I like. But like his old tweaked out shit just distresses me.

It's pretty easy to just throw a bunch of crap together and phase the shit out of it.
I mean if it was *conceptual* I could appreciate it more but it just tseems to be patently offensive and boring.

    Hit or Miss ...agreed.

you telling that about him reminds me of an interview with him in the docu notes on breakcore (check it out!! great introduction to a bunch of dj's like him). he was being pretty arrogant at a certain point.

anyway, who cares, breakcore has an air of punk attitude around itself anyway. and venetian snares is good enough to get away with it in my perspective.

my personal favourites in the genre are bong ra and aaron spectre/drumcorpse. raggacore till the end!!

I have only recently discovered Venetian Snares, a friend of mine from the Math-core band Octachoron (you might like 'm!) told me to check 'm out after letting him hear a few of my experiments. i wouldn't call it break core, it's more of a minimalist type + breakbeats, I'm trying lots of things out, discovering new grounds in music and it's great to stumble upon these pioneers who have been there before you...

i loveeee venetian snares everything from Rossz Csillag Alatt Született with its beautiful classical music to Fuck Canada, Fuck America with its noise polution sounds that sound like nothing but the more you listen to it the more you find a beat hidden inside it. I love ti sit on public transport and play dirty venetian snares as loud as i can on my headphones and watch as everybody moves away from me :)
