Not crazy. Just fun . I practiced for quiet some time spinning poi before I did it with fire. And we always take precautions. Fire Extinguisher, wet towel, etc.

i love fire poi!!! and any other fire dancing and juggling.. im thinkin bout picking up a set of fire devil sticks... im just in fear of my facial hair

Thanks everyone. I got into this through my boyfriend. He is very good at it. About the facial hair, if your careful it won't catch. He has a 6" goatee and its never caught..pretty soon tho he's gonna have to tie it back for safety.
You can use a lot of things to practice with. Get a pair of long tube socks and put tennis balls, or juggling balls, or even a bag of rice in the bottom and swing with those. The ones in the pic I'm using are a ball chain with leather finger loops and the ends are wicks coated in fuel.

i've tried poi spinning... im not that cordinated with my left hand to keep up the spinning... plus.. you take alot of nut shots tryin to learn.. and that puts a damper on wanting to continue

 

Yeah everyone hits themselves a lot during practice to try new tricks. I had jaw surgery recently and had to give up poi for almost a month for recovery cuz im always hitting myself in the face lol. (ps. never try new tricks with fire) :-D

 

Fire poi spinning is very cool indeed, poi on its own os cool - lovely art and quite a talent!

Fire poi definitely requires a lot of skill and hard work - but the results are amazing!

That's gorgeous. I have a couple friends who do that. What I find really remarkable is how noisy it is! I find you really attractive, by the way.
