Yes it exists, but it exists just as much in black people if not more now a days it seems to me in my area. I was hanging out in this area that was filled with predominately black people the other day and I heard them complaining about how white people were all racist when I was in the neighborhood. I said hi to them and they shunned me, I TRIED to be nice and say hi yet they wouldn't say hi back, and they were just complaining about how white people were racist and yet ignored my friendliness! Hypocrits if you ask me. Then when I went by with my friend who is black they were all friendly and said hi to him. I think if you don't want people to be racist you have to not be racist yourself against anyone who has white skin.
We will never do away with racism if both sides refuse to see each other as equals, and the problem of course is universally with people and not just with people who happen to have white skin.

oh and by the way i said hi to them after they called me a "FAG" without even knowing I was gay albeit, I think that took some courage.

A bit offtopic: My country (at Hungary) it's works like this: There are gypsies and some of them are still following that criminal lifestyle, and that makes white people afraid about them, which makes it's effect on the other gypsies (who have normal life), and they much harder get a job, etc. Also that makes every gypsies prejudice too on white people, so it goes vica versa. Now the goverment try to solve it, by stopping media to report any gypsy criminal act, and also court not always cares about some of their crimes, and that makes white people even more racist. I have no clue, how this problem could be solved, but I'm sure, not in this way, this one not helps to anyone, not even to gypsies. Ah, okay, never mind. [IMG]

Black people are mostly racist towards whites in my opinion. They all cling to the fact that their great great great grandparents were slaves, get a life i didnt harm you neither did any of MY ancestors. get over it. The world has moved on, MOVE WITH IT.

Bit of a generalisation don't you think... not all people of other ethnic origins think that "White people" are members of the Ku Klux Klan or the Nazi Regime.
How about refraining from putting people into groups and just see them as a person and not as a colour.

Well I just want to point out that its mostly uneducated people who are racist if not all the time. The educated people arn't that bad usually. We need to educate people not that racism against blacks is singularly bad but racism against ANY person for any genetic differences is horribly wrong. Judge the person not their national background.

That is absolutely bollocks. I know several people who are not well educated and they aren't discrimatory whatsoever. They see people for people. If they're a dick, they're a dick and if they're nice, they're nice. They don't judge people by the fact that they're a gay, eurasian, midget or whatever. Just by their personalities.
However, I do agree with you that people need to learn that discriminating against anybody is wrong.

The residents of this neighborhood are afraid.

They are afraid that they will loose thier homes,& thier neighborhoods to gentrification and an influx of new people purchasing thier homes.

There has been a huge speculative run-up in housing prices over the last few years. Many people could no longer afford to purchase the home in which they live. Folks with poorer credit are not eligible for the creative financing that has helped engineer this run-up. Famlies are doubling up and Immigrants keep coming because they know that this is the place to be.

    Its really not about you

Fountains of Nay, I've heard black-white relations are extremely different in the UK. Of course, I don't know personally, but I just figure things wouldn't be as severe over there.

And, I think in the education bit that Lanze mentioned, that he wasn't trying to say all uneducated people are racist. I think he meant that people who are racist are misinformed, or ignorant.

As for my whole outlook on the subject, I agree that it should be taught that racism of any sort is wrong, not just focusing on the whole "whites hating blacks" issue. I have to agree that there are obviously going to be blacks that are racist. Usually, just as with whites, it depends on exposure. But, I think it would be more appropriate to say "some but not ALL" blacks are racist.

You're very, very wrong. Racism is just a strong over here as it is in the U.S. We have a huge following of Nazi's here, and the BNP (British Nationalist Party) is on a strong rise in the country. Don't assume that your country is the only country with bad racism problems.

Also, back to topic: it's actually quite racism in it's own right to assume that they didn't say 'hi' to you because you were white. Maybe they didn't say 'hi' because you look, or are, a faggot.

(I'm not saying faggot in a derogatory term)
