How much do you expect to pay? will you relocate to somewhere far away for a much better deal? how long of a mortgage do you want? would you prefer to buy an internally unsightly house and repair it, or pay extra for a nice house thats not gutted?
I'm probably gonna end up buying one that is between 70 grand to 110 grand. Relocate? I wish. And the house wouldnt have to be perfect but I don't want a house that's falling apart either.
Most OTR drivers have it made, dont matter our location, the job is there. I like to buy fixers, do my own touches and save a little. I have bought 8 homes in my life so far, never lost a dime on em.
70 grand?!?! holy shit... up here in mass 150 is a steal, anything remotely nice is going to run you way over 200
wow 8 and never lost a dime, thats awesome! im looking at a 4 bedroom house right now, thats 50 years old, in a fair sized city (110,000)...its asking price is 20 grand...not 200, but 20, and this is of course in canadian funds. most houses in the area are not going for that cheap at all, so its obviously torn up internally, but i'd love to work on it as a house to live or to sell it again once its fixed up and make some dime, any tips ya have to offer on the subject?
Well around here you can get nice, older, but pretty Victorian style houses with up to six bedrooms for about 70 to 90 grand easily. They're not always in the best neighborhoods though.
my first house was owner financed fixer upper,, i stayed there 4 years and gathered about 2 grand profit by the time all was said and done,,.. my second home is here,,and in 13 years i have about 200k in equity.. an ive done shit to the house.. so id say its location more than anything.. good fortune. love n light
i payed 39,900 in 1993 for my place.. i have 14.67 acres. the going price for land with power and road in here is 15 to 20 grand a acre,..:sunglasse so if ya can pull a shack and land out yer ass for under 40 k now adays,, id highly recomend it...
Well, we have rented for a while and plan on buying our first house sometime in the next 3 years. We will plan on paying about 100 to 150 grand for it. I will have graduated from college by that time and set in my career. We want to stay in the general area that we are located in at the moment. I want a nice house cuz I've never had anything nice in my life.
I totally plan on it. land around here is still going for about 1 to 2 k an acre, and building houses is my specialty
i just turned a barn with power into a shack.. im discussing with the others here,, if when the time is right to sell wether we should build a house fitting for the property.. but i truly dont see where the profit margin would be raised to make it worth our while.. but time will tell.. im stayin at least another 11 years.. cant retire till 52..
if i was to relocate,, this would be it.. http://cgi.ebay.com/137-Acre-Arkans...84QQihZ015QQcategoryZ1607QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I bought something completley new on the inside that I could afford and it ended up being in the shittiest neighborhood ever and the HOA prices went up 4 times while I was there. I sold it two years later. I'm waiting until I get married because the only thing I can afford here is 200k...and that get's you a one bedroom in an okay neighborhood and no i would not relocate for real estate, everywhere I want to live is even more expensive than here.
Oh, my, dear, fucking, god. If i had a place like that, i just..i dont know, i dont know what i'd do...i'd be so...just...and....i.....that....oh....yea.... my god, this property im looking at now, i think, why even bother? im gonna live at home working and saving up untill im 50 so i can afford that place.
A friend of mine who lives down in Weston told me you couldn't buy a dog house in the area for less than 150K Hotwater
Well, houses in my city of the size, style and area I want are about 120-200k. But I doubt that's a starter home for me. Admittedly housing is stupidly cheap in Saskafuck except for the Broadway/university/riverside area (of course it's the Broadway area I want, heh). I have no idea where I'm gonna end up, but I'm not buying my first house in this hellhole.
We bought our first house 9 years ago for $102,500. We are looking for a newly built home now. Seems like most of the ones we are looking at are in the $275k-$350k range. Our current house should sell for about $140k or so, so we stand to make about $40k on the deal. Found a neat place on 4 acres that was built in 2005 - 2300Sq. Feet, plus it has a 1400 sq. foot guest house too and the asking price is $324k. We're looking at it and a few others tomorrow. I just sold my second house. I made 35k on the first one and I made 50k on the second. I may buy another house in the spring.
