I have a collection of AVI files that I wanted to put on a DVD, I got a new computer with a DVD burner and I was trying to burn about an hour and a half worth of video onto it.

The program told me that I was attempting to put 7500MB on a disk that had only 4200MB free. I know these AVIs did not add up to that much, is this a bad program? Is there a way I should format these files? Is there a way to convert these files so they will fit on a 4.7GB DVD-R that I can play on my DVD player?

    I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

when writing these files to disc, the writer program is probably converting the videos to mpeg-2 format, which is standard dvd format i believe. try manualy converting the files to video cd format or mpeg-3 and then burn them as data.

Get yourself a copy of Nero. It does the correct conversion for you, and burns to a playable DVD that works on most DVD players. Check your favorite P2P site(s).
