To the Above The Influence campaign people... now I'm not being sarcastic.. but when they aired their new commercial with the lack of their normal hardcore conservative views.. you gotta give them some credit for being more truthful... i dont know who all saw this new commercial.. but it has a kid and hes talking and he goes something along the lines of "when i smoked marijuana i never wanted to kill anyone.. never stole money.. never raped anyone.. i just sat on the couch and watched tv and played video games with my other stoner friends.. inside from the outside world.. and i just wanted to be outside..... Above the infulence" it was something like that.. but what it says is marijuana never made me do dumb stuff like kill people or rape someone or that.. it just made me stay inside all the time and do nothing.. and i want to be active.. so i choose not to smoke pot.. yea.. its still semi-stereotypical... i say semi.. because some people who smoke are lazy fucks and dont do anything other than sit around and smoke pot and watch tv... but when they can admitt in a commercial that pot does not make you do such psychotic shit.. it also helps the fight on legalization as well.. just my thoughts on this new commercial
tight i havent seen this one! the last ones i saw were those dumb ones where the girls are like jelly or watever, and have no bones. that was weird cause i was high when i saw it
I saw it, it goes something like this, "i smoked weed and nobody died, i didnt kill anyone, i didnt get addicted to heroin the next day..nothing happend. We just sat on tim's couch for an hour. Now idk about you guys but i like taking it to the basket, hanging out friends, etc. Ill take my chances out there"
it was an ok commercial... but like... still. who the hell just sits on their couch for 11 hours because they smoked weed?? like maybe 2% of all stoners tops. they should film the real smokers walking around town eating funyons and bk, laughing at the fat guy selling hot dogs, taking random nature walks, or hanging around a campfire or something... you know, REAL stoner activities.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=yYwxEW82Fok&mode=related&search= Here it is. I like the sound of Pete's Couch.
Fuck it, if this was Pete I would pick Pete's Couch ANYDAY! http://youtube.com/watch?v=yYwxEW82Fok&mode=related&search=
Fact: Most americans that sit around the TV all day mowing down cheese doodles aren't stoned, just stupid and lazy.
Fact: I just double posted by accident.... What really bugs me about this 'Above the Influence' campaign is how hypocritical it is. "Hey kids, be 'above the influence' of pot, but stay securly under the influence of our ad campaign!!" These comercials are only spewing less bullshit because people are finally catching on to the bullshit and they can't get away with the blatent lies they used to.
and like in response to the commercial.... why not do all that stuff....... and just smoke weed at night! thats what i do... or better yet... do all that stuff high.
this commercial was ok, but i like the one that has the dude in the car and hes driving around with 3 friends and hes like "me friends like to get high and i dont mind cause i just drive them around and when i want to go to a party i just bring them and when i want to leave i say lets go" and he basically goes on about how his friends blaze and he doesnt so he just drags them around... and im sittin there thinking that it would awesome to have a friend that doesnt smoke and is willing to just drive me around places...
the message is like that since he doesnt smoke that he just makes his stoner friends do whatever he wants to do and at the end hes like "wen i go to college theyll be someone elses problme"
the commercial is better than the others but at the same time its not very accurate. I think because the internet allows kids to have a world's worth of facts (and not-so-facts) at their fingertips they're begining to think for themselves better and alot of the anti-marijuana campaigns notice this, and realize the futility of the scare tactics of the past. Either way i dont think that is a good potrayal of stoners, at the end he says he'll "take his chances out there", well i will too, only i might smoke a bowl or two first oh and another thing, before i smoked i didnt do much either, as a matter of fact i've started doing MORE. Suburban life doesnt really have much to offer in the ways of entertainment, seriously.
