.... Seem like total silence was the only friend I had Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won And it was twelve o'clock before I realized That I was havin' .. no fun But fortunately I have the key to escape reality And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun Last time I checked my bankroll, It was gettin' thin Sometimes it seems like the bottom Is the only place I've been I Chased a rainbow down a one-way street... dead end And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen But fortunately I have the key to escape reality And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls Tryin' to get away From all the ears inside my walls I dreamed the police heard Everything I thought... what then? Well I went to court And the judge's name was Hoffman Ah but fortunately I have the key to escape reality And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun Well done, hot dog bun, my sister's a nun
Part of the chorus to that song used to be my signature. Ohh, Mr. Williams, you're a genius. And the voice trumpet at the end? Amazing. If you haven't heard of them, you should also check out Ekoostik Hookah. I know a lot of people have heard of them, but I've been surprised by how many haven't. And Yonder Mountain String Band... "Two hits and the joint turned brown." Nothin' like hardcore stoner bluegrass.
Keller does a great version of illegal smile. But don't forget to credit John Prine with penning the lyrics. YMSB is great, but tons of better songs than "two hits"
yea.. keller does a great job of this song... and yea.. there are waaaay better songs than "two hits" by Yonder.. even though it is a great cover....
great song and all i agree. but for the time i can remeber all i have listened to is grateful dead. i just cant get away lol. it helps i have a huge collection
Two Hits is my favourite song by Yonder Mountain. There's a reason behind it, though. Definitely my favourite.
every has and is entitled to their favorite song. But if you haven't listened to anything besides their say top 15 most downloaded songs, you really ought to download a few of their shows and listen to some stuff that not everyone has in the YMSB part of their Ipod.
