contrary to what you heard on the news the gun wasn't an automatic .was a semi-auto ....sawed off pump shot gun would have done more damage
I think people have to stop making excuses for these people and treating them like victims... I appologize in advance if i'm offending anyone but life is all about choice. You chose how you react to life. bottom line. everyone had a bad time in life. everyone goes through hardships, some more then others but the end result is that most people chose to make something of themselves, with or without outside help. I am really getting anoyed with people blaming guns and gun laws. If you want something bad enough the only things you need are determination and a willingness to follow through. wether for good(starting a charity, volunteering...) or for bad(buying guns or drugs or people....) I am just as equally anoyed with people that blame everything on mental disorders. from what I can tell by reading up on medical books and such only a handfull of "mental disorders" can be attributed to a lack or excess of something hormonal that can be proven and tested for... the rest are all made up to sell people drugs and books and to make the population at large feel better about themselves. if a child is a little too excited at school it must be ADD. no it's called a kid being a kid. stop drugging society people...! don't get me wrong I have a few disabled friends and they do have some good days and bad days but they work things out, mostly by themselves since they do not have many friends because they are different. They make the choice to keep fighting against their problems and oppressions, not to inflict violence upon others. Again, they make that choice and are better people for it. Anyone given motive can inflict pain on another living thing, that's the easy way. much more difficult is it to stop violence, to protect someone less fortunate to make a positive difference in the world. also I would ask people to think long and hard about why the vast majority of these gunners take their own lives... If you search yourself and not what the media tells you, your thoughts may suprise and scare you just a little. I just wish humanity would grow up!
I agree. Didn't you know if there's a firearm involved, or anywhere near, the firearm is ALWAYS the root cause. The sheep are posting as per History...
It's because the gun 'laws' are for people who wish to own a gun for their own protection or hunting. The fiberals gun registry wouldn't have done squat here, as I'll guarantee he didn't get this gun legally.
Aren't nukes similar to firearms in the fact they're also 'registered'? That tidbit will be reassuring when the mushroom cloud rises on the horizon after our fighter cover is moved to OK. Dumbasses on any number of fronts...
its all horrible.... what posseses some people? people do kill people but assault rifles in the wrong hands kill many people at once, lucky only one person has died so far, hopefully the ones in critical condition survive. Now we get to listen to the scapegoats again i've already heard marilyn manson is responsible for this one to... haha... poor guy... anyway they also arrested a couple 17 year olds that had written on a msg forum about doing it to there school in green bay today. they found many guns and home made bombs and suicide letters about how it was going to go down. scary world we got here. anyway peace (I mean that literally)
It's funny because when someone uses a gun to kill, like you said the gun is always the root cause. Yet if someone gets behind the wheel in their car and plow into a bunch of people or someone drives drunk and kills another, it's the persons fault, not the cars.
completley differnt scenario.... cars are not made to inflict death on people/animals/whatever.... but thats what a guns soul purpose is, you cant compare drinking and driving and gun violence... drinking and driving also has no intent to harm. Again I agree that people kill people, but people that have access to guns that shouldnt have access to them kill people alot easier. and dark_pit thanks for taking the time to clarify the 2, but I think you missed my point.
Am I missing something or are you saying restricting access to booze* (or cars) for those that shouldn't have it would make killing folks when driving while drunk more difficult. *Haven't we already tried this? Wasn't it a massive mistake for all but organized crime? Still boils down to Indiviual Responsibility, eh? Where's this leading? *PL*
that really has absolutly nothing to do with my response to RyJa. I was making the point that you really cant comapre the two, no where do i recall saying anything about restricting access to booze. The thread is not about about drinking and driving, and my views on it extend way past what I said, as it was just an example. But the thread is about gun violence, and again I will reiterate my point, that, though it is true that people do kill people, guns in the wrong hands do not help. Come on now we all know that guns are pretty much the easiest way for a regular civilian to kill more than one or two people, at once.
You meant 'bomb' instead of 'gun' didn't you? All it takes is two extremely common and cheap ingredients. No rocket science involved plus One doesn't even have to be present unlike normal firearm usage...
1. Bombs are never a guarantee, look at columbine they had 5 or 6 "bombs" that never even went off... even when they went and shot at them to try and make them go off they didnt work. 2. Your much more in control of a situation with a gun, plus most of them end up using the gun on themselves to, which is also part of the plan. For the most part they want to be present for those reasons alone. 3. The montreal shooter was using a gun. Which of course is what this thread is about.
