2 words people...hyperbaric medicine. Google it. Ok now that no1 has responded ill just explain it a little. Hyperbaric medicine is basically 100% oxygen. Us and plants only get 21% of oxygen. So my point is, people have grown tomatoes and other plants in a tank with that 100% oxygen and the plants have grown 4 or 5 times there actual size. Now if you grow weed, the plants would grow 4 or 5 times bigger, yielding more weed.
well, where your wrong is that a hyperbaric pressure chamber, filled with pressurized oxygen, wont do jack shit for a plant... it would need to be filled with pressurized carbon dioxide. and you would need a bunch of good light to take advantage of all that extra carbon dioxide. plants are made up of a lot of carbon, which comes from carbon dioxide in the air. the plants use that carbon during photosynthesis to create sugars to use as energy. as long as there where sufficient nutrients in the soil and enough light, all the extra energy would cause the plant to grow larger/better tasting.
lol yeah your theory sounds too good to be true man and usually if thats the case it can be.....sorry
both plants and human beings are made primarily of carbon. in fact, most of existance is made of carbon. "organic" can mean several things depending on context; the most common and relevant meaning of the word among the many sciences is, in short, "to contain carbon." orgainic chemistry, for instances, deals with the chemistry of molecules of various various substances containing oxygen atoms. the most common element in organisms is carbon. the most common element in rocks is carbon. the most common element in most things is carbon. water does not contain carbon, and humans are known to breath in oxygenous gas to live, and to exhale, among other things, carbon dioxide. unfortunately most humans, including myself and most people here, have only a very limited grasp on the sciences, biology included. common knowledge has it that animals like us need oxygen and have no use for carbon dioxide, while plant life needs carbon dioxide and has no use for oxygen. in reality, human beings need oxygen more than any other gas, but still need other gases in their atmosphere or they'll die. as has been mentioned, pure oxygen IS toxic to human beings. in reality, plants PRIMARILY need CO2 for photosynthesis, but most still need oxygen (incidentally a byproduct of photosynthesis) as well to survive, for other life functions. without any oxygen humans would die, its the most important of the gases we breath; but that does not make pure oxygen good for us. without any C02 plants would die; that does not mean pure CO2 would be good for plants. the best atmosphere for -ANY- plant to grow in is a wild atmosphere, the atmosphere of the majority of the earth prior to the influence of cars and factories. such an atmosphere is not common in residential areas these days. unless you live on a farm far away from civilization, you cannot have a "purely natural" atmosphere. in some cases introducing foreign gas can benefit the growth of some plants. if any gas is used, carbon dioxide is most often going to be the most useful, assuming enough light is provided to obtain energy through photosynthesis. that doesn't mean that oxygen is BAD for plants, but additional oxygen will not likely make a plant grow larger, may well damage the plant, and certainly is very unlikely to make a pot plant any more potent..... it might not HURT your plants to introduce more oxygen, but it wont help them grow bigger or stronger. it may HELP your plants to introduce additional carbon dioxide to their air; but pure CO2 will still kill them. just leave the gases alone for the most part and they will neither help nor hinder your yield. there are enough variables to make good pot as it is.
we breathe mostly nitrogen. do you guys know all of this information from school or from personal desire
Ive been studying plants for a long time now. i want to own my own farm someday. I'm going to college in January to study botany and agriculture.
alot of stuff in this thread is basic knowledge, and easilly learnable from taking examples from other areas and Willy wonka, good on ya for goin to school for somthing your interested in, it will definatly help ya succeed further with your goals, School = gold
yeah, after i got kicked out of school, i made it my first priority to get my GED. I'm only going to a community college but its a start. after 2 years at community I'm gonna transfer into a good state college to really get into botany and agriculture. my own farm has been my dream for years now, its what keeps me waking up in the morning.
well once your school starts it will definatly even give you that much more drive, going to school for somthing you like is very enjoyable
^^ it certainly is religious studies/history major over here, although sometimes i still get cold thinking about a career lol
