I tried posting this recipe a couple of times a few weeks ago but hipforums was being shitty and wouldn't let me....so hopefully this works! These burgers are SO AMAZING!! Especially given their simple and short prep time. You can omit the chile if you don't want the spice or if you can't find it. You can also use any kind of cheese you'd like. The cooking time varies though.....i make mine in the oven due to lack of BBQ so i leave them in there a bit longer than 4 mins. probably a little over 10 all together. This way the outside gets crispy and holds the super moist and soft inside from falling apart. If they don't stick together very easily give a small shot of your canola oil (or whichever oil you decide to use) to the mixture...it should form better patties. This recipe can EASILY be made vegan sans effort. 1 can black beans 1 medium sized onion 1/4lb sliced fresh white mushrooms 1/4 cup healthy breadcrumbs 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro (i use way more than 1 tablespoon, i use almost a whole thing) 1 chipotle chile in adobo, chopped 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp Montreal Brand Steak Seasoning (again, for a more flavourful burger, use much more than 1/2 tsp i use almost 2 tablespoons....if not more) Canola oil to grease pan Shredded mexican cheese (or any kind you'd like) -In skillet cook sliced mushrooms in one tablespoon canola oil for 6 minutes. (i cook my onions with my mushrooms but i guess you don't have to) -In bowl, combine cooked mushrooms, black beans, chopped onions, bread crumbs, fresh cilantro, chopped chipotle in adobo, cumin, and Montreal steak seasoning. Form into 4 patties. -Place on greased grill or broiler rack. Grill 4 minutes, turning once. -Top with salsa then top salsa with cheese. Heat until cheese melts over salsa -Serve on toasted multi grain hamburger buns or multi grain bread. Though it's great to be eaten as is, i put mayo on my buns...and it tastes awesome. Just a suggestion. Enjoy!
