I'm working on an article about songs which really mean something to you, which may have changed your life or have special memories. What songs really mean something to you? Will post the article when I'm finished, but any inspiration would be a great help
if i had to pick a song it would have to any off Nivana's 'nevermind' album, i was going thru some shit and i know Nirvana are seen as depressing over played tweenie emo material i liked them when they were still cool dammit! they really helped me see things clearer. Also i listened to REM - Everybody hurts a song actually about hope and the courage to carry on even tho live has given you a dud. I remember peace-pheonix and some other friends made me listen to it on repeat one night online cos i was in a state. On a happier note the Levellers "come on", because i found a wonderful place called "Beautiful Days" (which i couldn't make it to this year and was gutted) where i met so many wonderful peeps
Tough Question and I'll need to think about it alot more.. But I always seem to go back to this song I am mine ~ Pearl Jam The selfish theyre all standing in line... Faith in their hope and to buy themselves time. Me, I figure as each breath goes by, I only own my mind. The north is to south what the clock is to time. Theres east and theres west and there everywhere life. I know that I was born and I know that Ill die. The in between is mine. I am mine. And the feeling it gets left behind... Oh the innocence broken with time... Were different behind the eyes, theres no need to hide. Were safe tonight. The ocean is full cause everyones crying, The full moon is looking for friends at high tide. The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrows denied. I only know my mind. I am mine. And the feeling it gets left behind... Oh the innocence broken with time. Were different between the lines, theres no need to hide... Cause were safe tonight. I'm not saying its life changing or anything, but when I feel crap I put it on.. when I feel happy I put it on.. Its a loverly song

I have a list of songs that have changed my life: John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" - For Giving me the first inspiriation to the road I'm on today to devote my life to playing music - especially jazz. David Bowies "Lady Stardust" - For being that one sappy love song I listen to when I'm sad and always makes me feel better Donovan's "Little Tin Soldier" - For being a very touching song that has inspired me to write so many lyrics of my own Paul Simon's "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes" - For being a really happy song that I just enjoy Miles Davis's "Milestones" - For being the first *real* jazz song I ever attempted to play when I was a wee sax player with only a few years experience The Beatles "I've Just Seen a face" and "Hide Your Love Away" - When I'm at my highest points of stress and my feet are about to lift off the ground in a bad way, these songs bring me back and keep my feet FIRMLY on the ground and help me put my life back together. Nirvana's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" - For Kurt's haunting lyrics and sound. Every time I listen to the unplugged version a shiver goes up my spine. Stan Kenton's "Malaga" - For being the one of the hardest songs I've ever played, it kind of woke me up to the path I was taking musically. It's also a song that is used in drumcorp, and listening to the Madison Scouts play this song is incredible. The first time I ever heard that I was just shocked. Absolutly shocked. But I think the songs that have changed my life the most are the songs that my friends have written. I've grown up sharing my creations in music with them, and they've done the same with me, and we've been able to grow together musically. This has been the thing that's shaped my life the most - Sitting in my friend's basement listening to them play a song about a breakup, a new girl/boy in their life, a hard event, and everything else that cound inspire a song. I hope that helps Sal, I would love to read the article when you're finished!
oasis - round our way. when i heard that song, i decided to take up guitar. i've been playin since i was 8, an most of the things that have happened in my life stemmed from bein a guitarist. my group of friends was effected by it, an therefore my lifestyle... i guess i may have come to the same lifestyle eventually, but i'm sure its mainly down to that song

Lady tonight. by Mojo. It helped me to figure that it was best to continue with my part time job rather than throw in the towel and opt for residential home back in 2000. Was working at the Cafe continental in Uxbridge and at the time my name was Hakan but everybody called me H. I think the song was very uplifting song and worked for me. Every time I hear that song, I think about that year.
