That's cool. I wish I had the money to afford good guitars. Once the electric I have now breaks or whatever I want to get a white telecaster.

I like the sound of telecasters. Have you ever seen the movie Crossroads? Ralph Maccio (Karate Kid) rocks out his egg-shell white Telecaster. It's pretty wicked dude!

Telecasters do have an awesome sound, frankly I think they're gor the guitarist that can finally see there is more past the Stratocaster.

wow, I am intensely jealous. I must wait until my birthday for a guitar, and will prbably end up with an accoustic due to lack of funds.

However, jealousy aside, sounds wonderful, I am happy for you! :)

IMO, telecasters beat the hell out of strats. I have a G&L ASAT semi-hollow, and it plays like a dream. Can go from Iron Lung, to Dark Star, to Babe, I'm Going to Leave You like that. I think you have to look beyond the strat and LP sometimes. But nothing...nothing compares to an Alembic.

Yeah... I don't care for that Grateful Dead obsessed stuff... I don't need an Alembic to play well. All you're paying for are exotic woods. I don't need to look beyond the strat and LP because that's all I need.... well, maybe a Gretsch or two and a few Gibson ES 12 strings...

If I was going to spend that much money on a guitar I'd buy an acoustic... think Breedlove, Olsen, Maton, or Santa Cruz.

You're right about the Fralin pick-ups. I spent almost half again the price of my brand new Am. Std. Strat on those (w/bluescaster wiring harness) but they cannot be beat!

I'd still like to build a custom Strat someday using a solid ash Warmoth body.

But I have to agree with MusicMan19... pick-ups and pots on a Squire does not a Am. Std. Strat make! I really cannot imagine putting Fralins on a Squire... kinda like putting Pirelli P7's on a Kia.

Anyway... congrats on the new Strat! ~7

lmao... it's not going to make a whole lot of difference on a poplar body, but it's better than stock.

Yeah, more than 80% of tone is all in the fingers, so gear doesn't matter as much as most people think. Part of it is really asthetic appeal, and I like how Alembics look. I'd rather pay more for exotic woods then just the name on the headstock.

I actually like my $300 mim strat better than my Gibson sometimes. The Gibson is more of a hassle to work with.

Yeah, I really don't care for Gibsons all that much. Besides a 335 (would prefer a Heritage 535) none of the Gibsons really do it for me. I kinda like the SG, but that guitar just gets too labeled. Even though, yeah my Garcia worship (worship, not copying) made me want to get a Furthur in the first place. I like Alembics for the same reason I like Breedloves, the wood...not to mention tone... is just shweet.

I play both Telecasters and Strats.. Both are great guitars.

The MIM's are pretty good. I had a MIM Strat that I unloaded. I didn't care much for it, But I have two MIM Teles that I love. I have two MIJ 57 RI Strats are excellent.
