i've done mushrooms five times now, and with the exception of my first trip i've had horrible, pounding headaches every time upon coming down that last up to 24 hours. the trips themselves were great, and i wasn't doing anything that could cause headaches like beating my head against the wall or anything. i'm thinking maybe it's because i trip outside, and with all the sunlight on my dilated pupils my eyes absorb harmful amounts of light which results in headaches.
anyone else experience this? what can i do to avoid it? should i just trip at night, or with sunglasses or something? or is something else causing the headaches?
and another thing: i know mushrooms are really hard on your digestive system, but this headache i've got right now is so excruciating i just took a tylenol, which is also harmful, to relieve it. is the mix of mushrooms and tylenol dangerous? should i have left the tylenol alone? i looked it up and couldn't find anything about taking tylenol after mushrooms.
    thanks~

tripping in the day is boring to me, i prefer night, so trip at night and if you do trip in the day where dark sunglasses, thats all i can think of. One time i smoked so much pot my pupils dilated and i had a headache for hours

I think it is just a hangover effect. I don't see any problem with tylenol. Tylenol is very gentle on your digestive system.

are you kidding? more people die from tylenol per year than most every other drug.

a wild guess would be dehydration. as with most drugs, it's important to make sure you're taking care of bodily necessities such as taking in enough water, staying in an environment you know is good for you (not crossing the highway on foot or sitting under a sunlamp for 2 hours, that kind of stuff), and so on. i can imagine tripping outside under the sun in this time of year you may lose a lot of fluid that you don't really think about due to the drugs. i'm particularly prone to allowing myself to become dehydrated, and it can cause a lot of problems such as dizziness and VERY painful headaches which can last for hours, or even a whole day. i find about 2/3 of my headaches will go away quickly without medication if i drink a lot of water.

the sunlight may be a factor, but i doubt it would affect you as much the day after as the day of the trip.

Tylenol is very hard on your liver when taken in excess. It harms or kills so many people because people do not realize Tylenol (acetaminophen, APAP) is in so many different products. So long as your total daily dose of Tyelnol is less than 3 grams (3000mg) you will be fine. Tylenol IS VERY GENTLE on you DIGESTIVE SYSTEM.

Dehydration, I agree. Like a regular hangover effect.

I agree. Next time make sure you drink a glass of water at least every hour and a half.

Have you checked to see if your pupils are still dilated outside in the sun because when i take E when i go outside in daylight. my pupils return to normal but inside or at night theyr larger than usual. It could be the same with mushrooms?

i usually trip outdoors, and often during the day. i've noticed that my pupils never dilate much, if at all, under these conditions. i think that it is this way for most people. i doubt light's the problem, really...

thanks for all the replies. it could have been a combination of dehydration and too much light. i drank a little apple juice during the trip, but i don't like to eat or drink much when i'm tripping. it's a weird, overwhelming feeling that's a little uncomfortable.

but if the headache was caused by dehydration, then how do mushrooms dehydrate me so much? it's not like alcohol, which dehydrates you by making you pee out all the water in your system, and i wasn't sweating at all. it wasn't particularly hot outside, and i'd been drinking normal amounts of fluids all day. i didn't feel thirsty or anything. i drank lots of water once i got back home, and it didn't help the headache at all.
i'm still a little worried i'm having an adverse reaction to something in the mushrooms. the tylenol did help, but i don't like taking it. isn't there anyone else who's had these headaches? i hate to think i should give up mushrooms, they're wonderful and i really enjoy them. but they really shouldn't be making me this sick.

I am pretty sure many of the tryptamines, including 4-HO-DMT (mushrooms) are diuretic. You may not pee as much as when you drink alcohol but certainely more than if you are sober. I have headaches sometimes after a mushrooms trip and I think it's because I forget to drink enough water, but am I am not sure. Try avoid combination with weed or anti-psychotic medications such as seroquel and try take alots of vitamine C (2000 mgs) and 400 mg ibuprofen when you get the headache, this works well for me. Piracetam may also help.
