when i saw clerks i loved it, it was like me and my friends, then i saw clerks II it was amazing, elijiah is a great new character, my favourite part would have to be when randal ses porch monkey and then dante and becky or what ever her name was start yelling at him and dante ses ****** to randal and elijiah came over and ses" did mr.dante just call randal a ******?" and when jays trying to piss and hte dooor hits him and he goes, WHAT THE FUCK?!!!!!
yes! i loved it! I think you have to see the first one to fully appreciate the second, first one had something though that the second couldn't capture.... I hated that it was in color and that their lives were all sugar coated at the end but i forgave them because i found some contentment in knowing that they sort of came full circle....
yeah the second wasnt as indie style as the first, the first was shitty and cheap, but thats what made it so great
the second one was way too hollywood-ish... the first. amazing. i like the first far better than the second.
Kevin Smith is over-rated...he started out pretty solid, but he has started to believe a little too much of his own press. The first Clerks was funny...the second one was a super-niche film only appealing to nerds and Kevin Smith fans. Not a bad film, but nothing on par with the earlier work.
yeah mallrats and clerks are my favorite kevin smith movies. dogma.. eh. it's alright. never seen chasing amy. clerks two was just not that great.
i still haven't seen the original clerks, being a die hard Jay and Silent Bob fan. seen the rest, mallrats is my favourite. i need to get clerks watched and then clerks 2. i've seen clerks 2 clips, it looks good but not as good as others.
well, you have to see Mallrats and Chasing Amy to really appreciate Jay and Silent Bob at all as far as Kevin Smith as a director, I wouldn't let one or two bad movies affect your opinion on him too much he makes what he wants to make, despite public opinion for the most part if you ask me, his best works are Chasing Amy and Jersey Girl I love Clerks and Mallrats, but that's only because I can relate to the whole comic book and pop culture-discussing stoner thing
I have been waiting to see Clerks II on DVD. It should be no surprise to anyone that it's not as good or the same as the original. Kevin knows this and knew it going into the project. I believe his intent was to give a snap shot of where he and his crew are in their 30's. He's a pretty successful goof in that respect. Ironically, I had the rudely refreshing experience of meeting one of Kevin's original partners in crime (the real Randal) working the counter at the Secret Stash on the UCLA campus. Also learned that Kevin is teaching a film class there (see http://www.mtvu.com/on_mtvu/sucks_less/). Sellout? Maybe, but at least he knows it.
i have one thing to say about clerksII "One ring to rule them all.." hehehehe..that whole shpeel about LOTR and Star Wars made me laugh so hard i thought i was going to die.. and that part where randall is trying to bring back 'porchmonkey'
Same her,e the best part in the fucking movie. Especially when the LOTR fan he's havin the arguement with spews up all over the shop!!! Fuck, haven't laughed so hard in ages. His way of explaining LOTR - all the films are simply about walking. HAHA
I thought Clerks 2 was really good. Any Part 2 movie usually sucks when compared to the First one.... They did good job...I laughed my ass off thru the whole thing.... the LOTR part was funny as hell.... same with " kinky kelly" scene..... Im laughing my ass off just thinking about it....
