can you elaborate your opinion on this please rather than just a bunch of question marks? For those who don't feel like clicking the link...it's a few comments on a message board about the Pope's apology for his anti-Islam remarks. Personally, I don't give a rat's ass what the pope says. He's not my spiritual respresentitive, he doesn't represent my God. I don't know why non-catholics care about what some stupid old man in Italy says anways. I don't see the Imams out there apologising for their anti-nonmuslim remarks and I don't see people bitching about that and making it front-page news. I think people are just looking to whine for whining's sake.
I found it interesting to read other peoples thoughts on Islam. I haven't heard anyone say anything other wise. To me, it seems as if everyone is back-peddling so as not to step on the toes of Muslims. You draw a cartoon, and a week later someone is saying they are sorry......... "I think people are just looking to whine for whining's sake."
I'll tell you what i think of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Those three semitic faiths have brought nothing bought misery and death with them as they've conquered the globe. Muslims say that Islam is mostly peaceful (islam means "peace") and that extremists corrupt and twist the "holy text" to support their violent and oppressive version of islam, the same way christians say that the KKK and abortion clinic bombers twist their "holy text". I say it's the other way round, i say that all three of those faiths (one way, one god, true believer go to heaven, heathens go to hell) are inherently violent and oppressive and are only presented to the majority of the faithful as benevolent. Crusades, Terrorism, Zionism..... these are the true faces of of the Big Three Mono-faiths... They've always brought judgement, destruction, and death where they travel. They are faiths that were born in a region of scarcity and extreme competition for resources. The environment that bore them as left it's mark on their followers in the form of "my way or the highway". Any good that has ever come from worshipping Yahweh, Christ, or Allah has been overshadowed by the billions of deaths that lie in their wake. If i meet Abraham, Jesus or Muhammad in the afterlife i'll punch them all square in the nose. And if anyone is offended by by what i say, then let them be offended. Your certainty in a "one true" unknown deity, the infallibilty of texts thousands of years old, combined with Mono-faith's inherent moral absolutism has always resulted in death and misery. Always! Throw it away!
I dig what you are saying but this quote puzzles me. Why punch 3 dudes for something that their followers are doing 2000-5000 years later? It's not their fault that their good messages were twisted and warped. Jesus was a cool man. He had the right ideas and he was sold out by one of his friends. He preached of peace and tolerance. The Christians of today are VERY unchrist-like.
As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And ultimately if they had kept their delusions of divine communion (or in jesus's case delusions of divinity) to themselves, it would have saved us all a big headache. They deserve at least a punch in the nose.
