jeez. i swear, kai is only getting a couple hours of sleep per night, then waking up and playig all day. no naps. she's KILLING me here. any ideas how to deal with it?
I have a little odd insight. I was the same way as a kid. As a youngster I ALWAYS stayed up late., as a preteen I always stayed up late reading books under the covers with a flashlight. As an adult, I work nights and am still a night owl. If your babe seems otherwise healthy, it may be their norm. You could try chamomile baths or a lavender/chamomile spray on them to help them. I have a niece who is very active and my sis-in-law gets her adjusted by a chiropractor and it has helped her clam down.
I wish I knew how to make my daughter sleep normally. She has never been much of a sleeper--she never took naps, even as a baby and still doesn't sleep much. I think she probably sleeps about 6 hours a night, although sometimes it is much less. She wears me out, but she seems ok.
My 4 year old is doing that lately too.. I know he doesn't nap at school anymore, he just lays on his cot and has quiet time, then we put him to bed in the evenings and he talks, gets out of bed..pretty much wahtever for like 3 hours or more, then he's up in the middle of the night coming in my room, climbing all over me and DH, and trying to ask me things, so I shuffle him off to bed again, and he will sometimes go back to sleep a little longer and then he's up again for the day!! He did that last night, and this morning he was bouncing off the walls like a little fruit loop!! LOL--I pitty the teachers at his daycare today, but I did give them heads-up when I dropped him off.
it's totally new with kai. she's been sleeping through the night since she was born. now all of a sudden, she's a night owl. it's so bizarre.
If my rememberizer is working correctly, she just moved to her own bed/room? Correct? Maybe she's having a hard time adjusting? Have you told her she's welcome back in the family bed whenever she feels the need?
Or maybe she's about to hit a developmental milestone? Writing, reading, riding a bike etc... It seems that with my kids when they're working on a new consept, they take a couple steps back in other things that they have a firm grasp on.
oh yeah, she's been back in my room for a few days now. she's never been banished from the family bed. but right now she's got the flu, so she's sleeping like a baby.
With Zach I think it's probably a phase of some sort. He's been in his own room and bed his whole life. He's doing alot in school , so I think he thinks about that stuff alot. He'll call out from his room when he's supposed to be going to sleep wanting to know how to spell stuff or what a certain word starts with...LOL! He's too funny!! But driving me nuts too, because I refuse to go to bed until I know he's good and asleep.
