A new demon in town.

It is known as the NAND taskforce, or No Drugs No Alcohol (because we all know alcohol is not a drug). They were planning on forcing drug testing on any students participating in extracurricular activities or driving to school. Well, now I'm hearing of this new Party Safe Homes program by nand. I assume that, for this year at least, it takes place of drug testing (thank god). It's basically a pledge parents sign to inform other parents when their kids are using drugs, to forbid parties when the parents are not around. This isn't all that bad of an idea. But then there was the packet which was distributed by NAND at school registration today. It contains "facts" about marijuana. Upon hearing some of these from my friend who has one of a NAND packet, I was forced to conclude that NAND should not be in this position of authority, as they clearly have no fucking clue what they are talking about. Here are some of their "facts".

- Watch for pipes hidden in FRISBEES. (I laughed quite hard when I heard that one).

- Children under the effects of marijuana will have similar symptoms being drunk, including slurred speech and impaired balance.

- Marijuana has 421 chemicals in it, and they raise to 2000 when SMOKED (Marijuana has CHEMICALS in it, those things that make up every bit of matter in the universe?! NO WAY!)

I saved the best for last.

- Females: Changes in the menstural cycle; can cause several types of birth defects; BABIES CAN BE BORN ADDICTED TO MARIJUANA

I am strongly considering posting flyers around the school to counter this horrid bullshit. Also, there's a NAND picknic tomorrow, with free food. I must get completely stoned and show up. Hey, I'll be acting STONED, not DRUNK, so they won't know!

 

Bring some special brownies to the picnic. I bet the NAND members would enjoy that one.

 

Is this a city-sponsored organization? Maybe you could try to start your own if it isn't, and you can just duke it out with them.

as suggested by mushy and pitpat, you should turn it abck on them. if their advertising heaps, you can do two things. see if tey will pay poeple to advertise, then advertise their stuff in a way that has all their info but makes it obvious that its utter bullshit and your paying them out. being smart about it of course. if you cant ge them to sponsor your advertising, then still put up 'fact' sheets all over the place, with heaps of bullshit thigns, and other thgins that are technically true but still really stupid like the frisbee one.
