It's very well known that it's best for you to shave down the grain (in direction of the hair's growth). However, what about your neck? I've read different opinions on this: some say it's better to shave against the grain since the neck hair is softer, while some say it's better to go with the grain there as well. My neck hair grows downward, so that means I should continue shaving that way, right? I'm a bit confused since many men have their neck hair growing upward. So, do you shave your neck upward or downward?
I have always shaved against the grain. It's the way i was taught and i've never heard that you should shave down the grain. :/
I tend to switch, but for my chin area extending down my neck, I pretty much have to shave against the grain.
I think shaving sucks regardless of how you do it, I've had a job at a pizza place since april and I'm supposed to shave everytime I come in... no matter what I bleed... i think its some sort of ancient blood-letting ritual.... they must demand it of me... goodluck man, I just think some people can shave often and some cant.. I for one should have a huge wookie beard.... generally I do, but now im outta school so I'm doing the plan... lovin'light adam
I always shave in direction of the hair's growth (this means upwards for my neck area), otherwise my skin gets irritated. I'm so sensitive!
Shaving against the natural lay of the hair leads to more chance of "razor rash" - little red bumps. That's why they say it's best to shave with the lay of the hair, even though it doesn't get as close of a shave.
I despise shaving but I tend to go with the grain of hair which is downward for my face and I go upward for my neck area. But if I had my way I would never shave for the rest of my life.
i shave up my neck and up my face, so basically, against the grain. i think a little razor burn is remedied by taking a little conditioner(for hair) and washing my shaved areas with it and washing it off. works like a charm.
