Okay, so half of one of my sativa plants was rudely terminated from the stalk and it has buds about 2-3 weeks out from being ready to harvest. I've clipped off the big sun leaves and cut off the budding branches, dipped in a dilution of sea kelp nutes and then into rooting hormone, sticking them all in soaked oasis foam in tubs and put them under two 4' 3000L fluorescents. Is there anything else I can do to keep these puppies alive and continue budding until they're ready to harvest?
I'm a bit confused are you trying to take cuttings? If so you really needed to do it during veg as flowering plants are very hard to get cuttings to root. All I can suggest is don't give them to much light and keep them semi covered to increase humidity. If your plant is damaged the only way to save it is tape it up and hope it heals itself you can't cut branches off and hope they will continue budding.
This is a desperate attempt at recouping some of our losses after losing 80% of our crop to a ripoff last Sunday. Believe me, we didn't chop the plant in half on purpose! One of the forks was twisted to shreds and couldn't be taped up. This is the one I'm trying to save the buds on by doing what I've done so far. I was just hoping to get some kind of input that will help me nurture the amputees enough to see them through to maturity, IF indeed it can be done. It's worth a try.
Well, at least they're getting a bit more mature. Buds are slightly thicker. I'm actually amazed that they've survived this long. Only lost about a dozen cuttings out of 100. They smoked okay, so I guess that's a plus.
I think they will root just like any cutting. I have taken cuttings when the plant is well into flower many times and it is about the same rate of success as cuttings taken in veg. It just takes a little longer for them to start growing as they have to revert to veg before they take off. I suspect they will root for you, and keep on going if they did not wilt in the first couple days Peace....
