To me Picard is to politically correct...if I were in a real life or death predicament I would rather have Kirk at the bridge to kick ass and take names

If I was in a fist fight, definitely I'd want Kirk at my side. But Picard was a lot more intelligent, he'd be able to think/talk his way out of most fights....

Kirk always seemed to rely on Spock for the brains. I'm not saying that Picard never had help from another crew member, but he was more balanced...he knew what he was doing, and he could handle himself in a fight.

The only thing I have against Captain Picard is that he let that smug little twit Wesley on his bridge.

Shatner, because he wears makeup better than Stewart.

I've met Partick Stewart, he has a very commanding air about him. You feel like you want to stand and say "Capitain on the Bridge!" Or maybe, "Professor I've grown another toe, is that a special power?"

Patrick Stewart is a regular guest lecturer at Huddersfield Uni. A couple of my friends from my old performing arts course have been taught by him...one of the first things he did was say lines that the students requested. The only rule was "I won't do 'make it so'!"

He did a tour of a performance...three hours, I think, and he was the only performer (or he was at least onstage all time, with hardly anyone else onstage). The man must have stamina coming out of his ears.

Picard handled himself in one-on-one fights pretty well, and handled ship-to-ship combat very well.
He was also far more intelligent about handling things(i.e. not sending the entire command crew on every dangerous away mission). In pure wartime, Kirk may be an excellent captain - but in a galazy that's a giant network of diplomacy, politics, and the unknown...I'd rather have Picard.

    ...I'm a nerd. Sue me.

Kirk definitely wasn't stupid, but he was nowhere near as intelligent as Picard....

I think (shows potential geekiness) they do - Riker executes it in Insurrection I seem to remember, though I could be completely wrong....

Piccard, because he is more intelligent and he was an intelectual...basically what i strive to be, would whoop kirk in a fight, and has a damned sexi voice....IM NOT GAY...just you cant deny it....if i see a documentary on tv narrated by patric stewart, im SO watching that. And, he is the perfect definition of a man.

i would very much love to meet patric stewart...

kirk couldnt get his lines right....he always...talked like......this....

he relied WAY to much on spock for guidance, and he never failed to get a ripped shirt....also, he fell into way to many traps.

    he just wasnt that smart.

I agree Picard is much more intelligent, and yes, he does have a very cool voice. But he would never be able to whup Kirk in a fight. Kirk was the master of mano a mano combat....
