Can anyone suggest a great herb, sauce, or extra ingrediant for fried rice just to give it pizzaz? Recipe already contains garlic, soy sauce, mushrooms, egg and bacon.
add in thin sliced carrots.. like in little strips.. and green onion.. those are my favorite. sesame oil is nice too.. it has a really distinctive flavor.
Sure , we used peanut oil to cook then olive oil , for the olive oil here is so expensive .. the corn oil taste not as good as the peanut oil too .. BTW ..is this Chinese style fried rice ? ..when i make the fried rice ..i put the eggs into the rice and mix them before i fry it.. so the egg will totally mixed with every rice .. or i will cook the bacon and onions first then the egg rich .. yummy
BACON? This is not chinese. Chinese use lup cheung or char siu. Lup cheung is our rendition of a fatty sausage, and it's sliced and used like bacon. Char siu is our roasted pork...mmm. Chinese fried rice is also done in many ways. There's also chicken, and seafood fried rice. _________________________ To Wiccan Witch, Try cilantro, and/or the above meats^ mentioned if you have an Asian grocery store or butcher shop near you. And use white pepper. It's better than black in fried rices. White pepper meshes with the ingredients better (for me). I use black pepper more with fish and other european dishes. Also, for spice, use chilli oil or Sriracha sauce. Personally, I refuse to make a perfectly good fried rice and ruin it with tobasco or some other anonymous, goopy hot sauce. Sriracha is the only thing that remotely tastes and is good enough to be a hot sauce. It's usually imported from Singapore or one of the south east asian islands. ...Brings back memories.
