could you say that hinduism is a pagan religion?? although in many ways it is, pagans seem to think differently..
Briefly - some branches of hinduism, which is a very diverse thing, are more like pagans than others IMO. Some resemble christianity in some ways too. Among western so-called pagans, the main objection seems to be that paganism means worship of the gods of one's ancestors, not someone else's ancestors. A bit of a parochial notion I think. Another point though might be that pagans say they worship the forces of nature, whilst it could be argued that hinduism in general is more about super-nature. That said, muslims and many christians do regard hindus as 'pagans' - by which they mean non-muslim or non-christian respectively.
at its core, hinduism is aham brahmasmi or "i am brahman" and Ganesha travels around on the back of a rat... from a soliptic perspective though, one could come up with a pagan slant
the back of a rat?? are u sure?? the aham brahmasmi thing, doesnt that have to do with the atman and breaking free from the cycle of life and death....i mean cant only followers of the vedanta section of the vedas actually consider their atman
in what way does hinduism resemble christianity??...well that could be true, christians have christianised many things around the world with their food and money bribing...
Vaishnavism - worship of Vishnu or Krishna, resembles christianity because it is all about devotion to a personal God. There's no element of sacrificial death or anything.
