How can anyone think protesting will change anything other than social order?

What can protesting do to fix a high crime rate? How can a peaceful assembly make a crazy leader of guerrillas in africa stop shooting up farmsteads and recruiting youngsters to join their ranks?

How can sitting on your ass and not attempting to change something for the better do something?

Simply protesting something is an exercise equally useless as "sitting on your ass." If you want to change something for the better, you should vote, research, educate, write a book, etc....You know, something that does more than just cause a disturbance for traffic and passersby.

Protesting is just another way to get more people to open their eyes to a situation. People will probably be pissed off by protestors, but many of them will then turn around and ask what they were protesting. Its only when you piss people off in this current era that you can really get their attention.

The US is one of the countries that bends over and takes the most shit from their govt. and do you know why? because we are comfortable in our homes, and dont have bombs dropped on us all the time, or have the constant threat of military warfare breaking out in the streets outside our schools.

In Mexico I believe it is, the vast majority of the population protested and revolted against the rigged elections of the man trying to take political power, yet in the US Bush rigged alot of shit, and we kinda just recounted it.

With enough people anything can happen.

what i dont understand is why we're not more outraged & protest more
with bush in office its time to say..enough is enough
people should be angry..they should be enraged, but not at protestors..at theyre own government..and at themselves for being annoyed because your late getting home cause people are trying to change the mess we're in

thats what protesting is for, most people seem to be so disconnected with the rest of the world that they couldn't give a rats a$$ less as far as what they dont think directly concerns them. I know because up until recently I was one of them, then I had a few college teachers who just started bringing up current events and explaining how those things have a direct impact on our lives and the lives of millions of other people.

Its only when you stop and think or someone other than yourself that you can really start to comprehend the level of sh*t that we are in.
