and it looks like I have enough intern credits to complete my MS in Human Services in 16 months after I graduate this Jan. It's at Springfield University, in MA, but they have an extension out here for YMCA emplyees (the Y founded the college in the 1800's).
Does anyone know about the actual school? IS it good? I know it looks good with my employer to get a degree from there, but I am wondering if it will be recognizable in the general job market as I have never heard of the school prior to working for the Y.
Please help!!! The only schools I have been accepted into for Master's programs are National for their MS in clinical Psych (this would livense me as a therapist), University of Pheonix MPA(last freaking resort if all others denied me), Notre Dame buisness on-line extension MBA in non profit management(would have to live there 2 months during the summer), Springfield for their MS in Human Services and Alliant International School of Psychology for their Phd and Psyd in clinical psych.
...as you can see my low gpa has offered me slim pickings...and I would rather transfer into a Phd program after my MS.

So anyone know about Springfield University? It's the shortest degree program and the easiest.
btw-do not suggest state schools...they're pretentious and snotty out here.

Springfield is pretty well known up here.. but then again, I'm from Mass. At my house in Georgia, no one has ever heard of my uni and it's one of the top ranked in the country. So it really doesn't matter.

awesome...I go for a tour of their san diego campus this thursday. If I went my classes in the spring would be: Fundamentals of descriptive statistics,: Strategic Planning ,Child & Family Services III – Assessment & Intervention (2 credits) and Clinical Issues in Criminal Justice. I would only have to go to class one night a week and 4 hours on saturdays and then would have to do three weekend retreats.
Thank you for the feedback :) I feel confident now in that school and major as my choice...and an MS as oppossed to an MA would really balance out my undergraduate work in Liberal Arts I think.
Where do you go? I go to the second ranked liberal arts program in CA, yet no one out of CA has heard of it...it's frustrating!

I go to Brandeis University... its the 32nd ranked research university in the country, though rankings really don't mean much. It's generally really overshadowed by Harvard, MIT, and Tufts because it's within 15 minutes of all 3.

Go wherever you think you'll get the best education and your time will be more worth it.

OMG!!!!!! I just got this in an email from my advisor...wohoooo...it's 7k a semester for full time so that is a huge blessing as I have soooo many student loans

YMCA employees are eligible for a matching scholarship fund up to $5000.

The city is pretty cool. I've never been to see the school, though.

    best of luck to ya.

I'm studying international relations and archaeological anthropology... though the AA is kind of a whim. It might change to a minor as I don't plan on actually being an anthropologist. I'm also minoring in economics. It's fun stuff.

Springfield's program sounds the most interesting at least. I've never actually been to Springfield but I've heard it's nice.. near Connecticut and all. You can take public transportation from there pretty easily to any of the cool places in Mass or if you have a car, it's even easier. But I'm ridiculously biased towards the Northeast. :)
