when getting a tattoo on your foot, which way should it face? I've been contemplating getting a tattoo, but I'm really confused on which way it should face. Is it supposed to face you, or face someone who might be looking at it?

i know two people who have tattoos on their feet. they both face away from themselves so that other people can see them. but it all depends on what you want and what kind of design it is. i wanna get an oak tree on my foot when i get older and it'll face other people because i think that looks best. but it's all up to the person getting it and what they like.

but now that I look at it, I don't think he'd fit on my foot.

I have a Chinese symbol on the side of my foot...and it's written so others can read it.

i'd personally get it facing myself. haha but thats cause i'd like to be able to look at it the way i tended.. the tattoo is for myself.. not for others. but its really up to you! having it facing others makes sense.. its a piece of art.. so its intended to be viewed upright... but i guess im tattoo selfish.

why get a tattoo where no1 will see it (unless you wear sandals or trek around bare foot)?

I like the idea of having it on my foot, because it's private. I have the option of showing it to people I want to see it, and the option of hiding it from people who I don't want to see it. Plus I like my feet, it's the only part of my body I'd feel confident having tattooed.

My wife has a butterfly on top of her foot. It's facing so others will see it. A upside down tattoo just wouldn't look right.

My girl really wants to get a nautical star on each foot. At first I was against the idea but now I think it could be sort of cute. ^_^ I am going to tell her to go for it if she really wants to.

The foot is nothing compared to the ribcage or the underarm.
