I'm so sick of 50 cent, eminem, outkast, nas, chamillionare.....

I heard a couple tracks from Dead Prez and Roots the other day and it was awesome.

Any other Alt Hip-Hop anybody can recommend?

Check out Black Star (I have their album as my avatar :D), Hieroglyphics, and Blackalicious.

Not alternative to hip-hop, alternative hip-hop.
Although, from what i've heard (blackalicous and jurassic 5 yesterday) alt hip-hop is actually in the tradition of true hip-hop, not that fake gansta, big rims, bling-bling bullshit...

Do yourself a favor and pick up Madlib, Mf Doom, Blackstar, Deltron, and the first two albums from Jedi Mind Tricks. That should open up a big enough window to find out who else is good just from guest appearances.

Someone else told me that Jedi Mind Tricks was worth checking out, so maybe i'll give em a shot.

I also like some old Mos Def and Common...

Rip Slyme is a good Japeneese rap group. Just look up "earth vs. funk" and you'll find an animation by Neil Cicierega that uses one of their songs.

Yea, Mos Def is half of Black Star. Jedi is ok, but trust me, after the second album, Jussalla quit, and now they are an embarrasment to Philadelphia. But I would say my favorite of all time is without a doubt MF Doom. The trippiest beats and lyrics you'll ever hear, but I think he goes over a lot of peoples heads because he's really abstract avant garde person.

You need to check out some OLD Three Six Mafia songs/CD's. Their old shit has a kinda psychedelic/horror/smoked-out vibe to it. If all you have heard of Three Six Mafia is their new shit and their singles, then you are missing out.

    Different tokes for different folks.

Have you heard any of their old shit? That's the good shit. Shit like "Mystic Stylez" and "Chapter 2: World Domination" and "The End". Also, some of their underground shit like "Killa Klan Kaze" and "Koopsta Knicca". Some crazy demonic, smoked-out shit that not too many people have the privelage of hearing if they're not from the south. That shit is rampant down here.

Aesop Rock is good. He has some of the craziest lyrics of any rapper today in my opinion.

Cage is a sick rapper. His latest album is pretty different from anything else out there, and his older stuff is pretty fucked up but it's just as good.

Cannibal Ox is areally good group, sort of trippy hip hop. Crazy beats.

Copywrite is a sick MC. I haven't bought a album by him in awhile but his older stuff is rediculous

Everybody loves MF Doom and dangerdoom. He's an underground legend.

Deltron 3030 is out there. I haven't really listened to him recently butr I loved that stuff back inthe day.

Gangstarr is classic underground hiphop. You can't not like gangstarr.

Immortal Technique is good and if your just getting into underground hiphop then you'll like him definatly. I don't listen to him much anymore though, getting preached to constantly gets old lol.

Non Phixion is pretty good. I like the Green Album the most, but they are still alright.

Jedi Mind Tricks is insane, but their new single is wack as hell. Sick beat though. I thinkt he chorus is garbage but oh well. The Army of the Pharoahs clique it good too along with all their members.

Leak Bros are pretty good. It's a concept album by Cage and Tame One about PCP. Crazy shit.

Mobb Deep is pretty ill but odds are you already know him.

    Mr. Lif is ill.

    Murs is good.

    Outerspace is good.

People Under the Stairs are good to smoke weed to. Really chilled out rap.

    Rass Kass is good.

Sage Francis is pretty good. He's from my hometown too heh.

Tame One is by far one of my favorite rappers. He was in Artifacts, a group from the 90s.

Finally, The Weathermen are prob the sickest hiphop group out today in my opinion. They only have one album out, The conspiracy, and it's just a mixtape, but they are made up of some of the sickest underground MC's out there today. They take alot of good beats you've already heard and tear that shit up.

That should be enough good hiphop to keep you busy for a while.

Jus Allah was never in JMT. He spit on alot of songs but he was never part of the group. Like I sid the new songs sucks but they are hardly an embarrasment. I saw the entire AotP and it was one of the best shows I've ener been to.

Fan boy? Get out of here with that videogame anime shit. Like I said he was on the songs, not in the group.

Mr. Lif and Murs have been mentioned, but anyone on Definitive Jux is worth checking out. El-P's older stuff with Company Flow was at one time classified as prog-rap and is pretty intellectual. The Arsonists from out in NYC are pretty hot. I saw cage mentioned and I'll suggest Atmosphere/Slug for other sick picks. Sims from Minneapolis is nice. I saw him play in Chicago with All Natural. The list goes on and on. There are so many alternatives to the mainstream garbage being pumped out of the radio. That old 36 mafia, back when they were triple Six Mafia is pretty demented and wacked out. Also check out some of the Bay Area hiphop mentioned earlier like Ras Kas and Hieroglyphics as well as The Latyryx and Swollen Members. Oh, and Deltron 3030 is aka Del Tha Funky Homosapien, who also is now part of the Gorillaz. That guy's flow and vocal inflection is out of this world. Enjoy!
