I sometimes have really random questions about crafting about mediums I have never used. I know some mediums, and can answer some questions.. but other mediums are a total wash.

So, my question is for those of you familiar with fabric.

Could I run fabric through a paper shredder? Not a thick burlap or denim, but a thin silk? Would it work? Or would the fabric need to be re-inforced?

Totally random, I know... but if my idea would work, well... lets just say I should apply to join MENSA.

I don't think so. If you use scissors for both paper and fabric, the paper dulls the blade and doesn't cut the fabric very well (which is why I mark all my scissors "DO NOT use on PAPER!" lol!)

My mom's silk tie went through the paper shredder at work once. It shredded it all right! She came home with a fringed tie. That's my only experience with silk and paper shredders. [IMG]

I'd be interested to find out what your finished product of shredded silk as a craft would look like... be sure to post!
