What's the story with those blunt things you smoke the far side of the Atlantic?? How does one go about rolling one?
blunts are pretty bomb. you roll them with a lotta ganja. but at the very least 1.3 is a good amount a nice sized dub. you can roll with an empited cigar or a blunt wrap. place the ganja inside the wrap, lick it.. make sure it's nice and wet, and then roll it up. light one side and puff outta the other.
Ah cool, think the emptied cigar is the way to go, don't think they sell blunt wraps over here, must chekc the local headshop next time I'm in.
I'm not sure of your situation with marijuana in Ireland, but here in Arizona, you can get either the expensive kind bud or the cheap commercial weed from Mexico (there's some grades in between but they aren't important). Blunts are mainly used when smoking the cheaper marijuana since you have much more quantity and the cheaper stuff doesn't taste as nice. A blunt wrap is just like a rolling paper made out of tobacco like a cigar.
We don't really have any it's nearly all hash, but I'm meant to be getting a bit of white-widow this weekend so I'm gonna do me up a blunt, might throw a bit of hash in aswell for good measure.
blunt wraps and blunt shells are ENTIRELY different. a blunt wrap is basically an oversized rolling paper made with some kind of tobacco (although it may be very little tobacco, actually) whereas a blunt shell consists of the two layers on the outside of a cheap cigar after you've removed the tobacco from it. a blunt wrap will give you a short, oddly shaped blunt. they burn funny, taste like shit, and they're thick - kind of leathery. the one half decent blunt wrap i've used is called Golden Wraps, although they're really too small to be considered blunts, they're quite a bit larger than the average joint (longer than a 1.5 rolling paper, shorter by far than a phillies blunt). golden wraps still don't taste very good, but they roll easily, burn slowly, taste better than those ez roll tubes, and you get a pack of 20 for a few dollars. a blunt shell is great, though its more difficult to roll than a blunt wrap. everyone rolls a blunt differently, but generally the way its done is you first lick the cigar until it is visibly moist all over (but not soaked! don't use too much saliva...a once over with your tongue should suffice) and then let it soak in until the outside layer looks a little drier. then split open the cigar from end to end in a long line as straight as possible. you then unroll the shell a bit, making sure not to seperate the two layers of the shell, and using your fingers you gently remove all the tobacco in the cigar. at this point you may need to lick your lips and use them to seal the two layers together around the edges. i have a friend who always uses his finger nails to split his blunts, and he says that mashes the edges together and he never licks the edges together...i and most people i know, however, split our blunts with folding knives or razors, and in general you need to lick if you do that. once the guts are removed from the cigar and you've got it the way you want it (you can cut off the conical mouthpeice at the end if you want to make it more like a paper) you should put it on a table or something flat, and then put your weed in it. now the tricky part is rolling...you need to keep the outer layer of the shell from getting TOO fucked up looking when you're done with it...a master blunt roller can make it come out looking almost identical to the original cigar's appearance, in terms of neatness and size. that usually takes about 3.5g, minimum, though. try rolling it tight enough so that the weed won't all fall out when you turn it on end, but other than that how tight you want it is your decision. i know a guy who never uses more than 0.5 or 1.0g of weed in his blunts, and he rolls them very tight, about the thickness of a small joint, but i tend to roll them looser. not always on purpose, but it does have the distinct benefit of hitting like a son of a bitch. after you roll it as tight as you want, you fold the other part over it and lick and seal the same as you would with a paper. although there's no glue, it should stick quite easily depending on the brand. phillies usually stick the best, but i prefer white owls because they burn more slowly and evenly, and have a somewhat milder, smoother flavor. every brand of cheap cigar rolls different kinds of blunts, and its fun to experiment and play around with it and see what you come up with. blunts are not for really high grade weed. the reason is that blunts are so long and burn so slow because of the cigar shell, and the weed inside gets very resonated very quickly. because really high quality marijuana is usually a bit fresher (and contains a little more water) and because it is usually quite a bit more resinous, a blunt of very high quality weed could quite conceivably keep putting itself out, especially if you were baking/hotboxing/whatever you want to call it. sometimes though, its nice to roll a blunt with about 2/3 mids and 1/3 nugs...gets you a lot higher, tastes better, burns slower, and you still get the joy of looking badass and smoking a cigar filled with marijuana btw, you really do need to use strictly weed in a blunt. you shouldn't put any kind of cigar or cigarette tobacco in there, because even for a regular tobacco smoker it could quite possibly make you a bit sick unless its just a VERY small amount...but what i would be worried about is some european fella with some mighty fine resinous weed rolling up a fat blunt with a lot of tobacco to keep it from going out...yikes...
another big reason people here roll blunts is that our lower quality marijuana (mids and merc, mostly) doesn't taste all that great sometimes, and blunt shells are usually flavored a bit, usually like fruit or honey or vanilla or chocolate or something. if you're going to try and roll a blunt with white widow AND hash, be prepared for it to go out a lot. i'd actually suggest going to a headshop or something and investing in some golden wraps. since they're literally just oversized papers made from tobacco instead of something as big as a blunt wrap or blunt shell, you can roll them the same as a joint and even use a little tobacco in there. i'd recommend the cognac, the chocolate, and then the coconut flavors in that order, but they aren't strongly flavoured and it won't make much difference if you can't get one of those. enjoy your first blunt
Man cheers for taking the time to write that, it was much appreciated, gonna be knocking one of them up at the weekend for myself!!
no problem man! i used to HATE blunts because i thought they were gross and a waste of weed...i've really grown to like them much more than any other way of smoking though. honestly, if i was in amsterdam, i'd probably buy a bunch of the weed people seem to not like much (like "thai" shit or whatever...seeds, stems, a bit more dry and weak) just so that i could use it to mix with something better and still roll blunts. a good sized blunt can easily get 5 heavy smokers stoned, even if its bad weed. i once saw a 4g blunt get 7 heavy smokers pretty high. it made it around our circle about 4 times before it was too small to hit. local blunt etiquette dictates you get two hits off of it before you pass. that means we got at least a good 56 hits off that blunt, though probably slightly more because people usually sneak in a third hit before passing it every so often. thats how fucking slow they can burn if rolled right and with enough weed! i dunno what kind of cheap cigars you guys carry round there, but if you can get Phillies, White Owl, Swisher Sweets, or Optimo, these are among the better brands for rolling blunts. the shells stay together easier than most better cigars, they're heavier shells (easier to roll), they're well flavoured, and they stick together really well in general. i forgot to mention you should dry the entire thing off (especially where you licked it and stuck it back together) with a lighter flame. if you don't dry off the seam, it may come undone more easily as you're smoking and then you have to hold it together with your hands (not too hard, just a nuiscance) if you royally fuck up your first blunt (or two or three) don't worry and just try again later. once you get it your first time, you just get better and better at it.
yah man i agree with you. blunts are the best form of smoking. i really do perfer it over any other way of smoking. but since i never get low quality herb here, usually just dank nugs consiting of mostly kush, blunts usually get rolled maybe once or twice a week. as for the blunt wraps i have no beef with them. they dont taste like crap. they taste of either blueberry, mango, strawberry, sour apple... you name it they probably have a flavor.
When i go to Amsterdam i always bring as many Dutch Masters with me as possible. (Green ones). Then i like to pack them with some of that sticky hash that you can roll up into a thin snake the length of your blunt and then fill it with weed. Then i smoke it. and then i cant get off my bar stool.
Had my first blunt last night, used a King Edward cigar, was suprised how easy it was in the end, myself and my bro smoked it and we were absolutely wasted after it.
