I'm currently reading a book based on the Iranian revolution of the 70s, when Khomeini returned to Iran from exile in France and removed the Shah regime and Bakhtiar government.

I think this was really kind of a turning point in modern history in a way-to me, it was really the beginning of modern Islamic fundamentalism, and it (the Iranian revolution) had an enormous impact on the whole rebirth-of-Islam phenomenon that we're seeing today.

the collapse of the british empire due to the rising interest in dental hygiene and dentures... actually the fall of the empire began at waterloo with the british soldiers removing dentures from the dead french soldiers... it is believed by many that it was a ploy of napolean to have his elite fighting forces die in battle for this effect

I would like to research more into what happened because I was reading a fictional story based upon real events, so does not hold facts etc, but it was interesting to read (WHIRLWIND by James Clavell).
I have a few Iranian friends though and have had a few discussions with them on the Iranian Revolution. I was particularly interested in their parents' opinions, whether they were pro-Khomeini or Pro-Shah and their reasons for leaving Iran etc.

Do you know of any books that I can read that actually tell the real-events?
