I read that the most mentally healthy people are the people who follow and fit into societys gender roles. Part of the roles are where men are dominant, limited in expressing emotion, and make their demands known and women where women are the opposite which is submissive, express their emotions in many ways other than violence, and yield.

I have some mental problems but I am really opposed to gender roles. There is no way that I can fit into the male gender role, and there is no compromise either.

I want to know what you all have to say about this and if you have any information that can confirm or deny that assertion I read.

Healthy, relative to mainstream society's norms.

But are the prevailing social norms healthy?

I'm a dude who also, in many ways, does not fit typical gender roles.

With the exception of biologically-based gender roles, many stereotypes associated as being "male behavior" and "female behavior" are merely cultural phenomenon.

Honestly, I find that typical American social norms regarding both males and females to be very unhealthy and skewed. And men have it just as bad as women - because while they are viewed (via dominant social norms) as "dominant" the catch is that they often do not have the kind of support networks that females have access to. It is much easier and more socially acceptable for females to find emotional help than it is for males, because males are expected to be ultraconfident, "tough" etc and as such, seeking help is a sign of irresponsibility and failure and something to be ashamed of.

For starters, you are investing alot of your decision making on what used to be called the 'Dramatalurgical Perspective' in which we use words like:
    Roles.
Then we describe human behavior in terms of what a 'character' would do, say and even the 'arc' of the character etc etc.
Its not that surprising this is a popular perspective when you look at our whole generation of TV and Movie addicts heh.

I dont buy this whole concept or perspective of 'Roles' and especially the 'Gender Roles' but its not necessarily a bad thing to look at the world like that either.
    But,
This is: " There is no way that I can fit into the male gender role, and there is no compromise either."
I dont know who is telling you this bullshit but I strongly suggest you stop listening to them.
Even worse is the supposed 'uncompromising' description of the 'Mans Role' in this play:
"Part of the roles are where men are dominant, limited in expressing emotion, and make their demands known.."
    Huh?
Just start ignoring this type of bullshit 'psychology' because all that happening is you have allowed it to create some false dichotemy in your own head.
This whole thing isnt even addressing cultural issues and I dont need to tell you that 96% of population Earth is not American Business Men either.

Just drop this contrived notion and free yourself to work on your own problems first.
Eliminate them by replacing them with good mental habits.
But do that sincerely as they present themselves and the results will make themselves.

Geeezzz.. the amount of psychological and sociological DAMAGE done by the last 30 years of pseudofeminist 'gender role' fucking 'equity' type issues and all the garbage associated with it must be astonishing if we could ever measure it.

dont fall into this false thinking and dont try and reconcile it in your own mind.
You cant reconcile bad ideas so its just a waste of your time.

What do you mean when you say you have 'bad mental health'?
    Why do you think this?
