What is your school's attatude to your lifestyle? Are they OK, or do they want to turn you into yet another clone....

And what of other students, are they OK and digg you or do they see you as a threat to the unwriten laws.....

I get made fun of for having long hair a lot. I also get comments on my liberal like view and such. However as far as the school itself goes, they don't care about the long hair or anything like that.I did get in trouble for wearing a jim morrison shirt with cursing on it(however I did not stop wearing it) and I almost got in trouble for having naked lunch with me.

Oh right. Really at my school, there are some people who are ok with hippies, and some who just comment on whatever I do.

My teachers think i'm nuts because they are all republicans(texas), or most of them are.

And my friends are pretty much used to my ideas and beliefs, but they always throw in there jokes about me being a hippy. but whenever i hear them i always do one of those extremely fake laughs and i say "OMG! YOUR SO FUNNY! THATS LIKE JERRY SEINFELD FUNNY!!! OMG!!"

At college, everyone treats me like everyone else, no one minds anything about that! And the same at school, those who knew me well enough to see that I was hippyish for want of a better word were my friends so woulnd't have been mean anyway, of course they'd always joke about stuff like using a tiny bit of a page before starting a new one and random stuff like that, but that was it

I keep to myself, so they don't know a goddamn thing about my lifestyle.

As for how I look, (which isn't your stereotypical hippie look or anything... I wouldn't call it typical either though...ahha) I couldn't give a rat's ass to what they think, and I don't think they could give a rat's ass as to how I look. My school's pretty open minded towards how anyone wants to be, which might be surprising as it's a pretty small town, but it's a party/pothead town too... Pretty laid back. I mean, yeah, there's your prep/popular crowds that can be somewhat clique-y, but everyone still talks to everyone...

Most of the staff at my school is open minded. Half the male teachers have long hair... half the male students do too...

I guess they encourage individuality quite a bit there, so it's a pretty okay place to be, if you ask me.

When I had long hair I got called hippy a lot. With long hair and short hair I still get asked "Where's the acid at, man?". I usually say stick with the E, acid would be too much for you, and they shutup. Me and my friend used to get some shit for listening to the Dead... but eventually these wannabe musician kids realized that they were bashing some really good stuff.

Some of the teachers are incredibly square. Last year a teacher was incredibly pissed off and offended by a Bob Marley shirt where Bob was smoking a joint. He was such a douche. Aside from the few, most of the teachers don't really care if you smoke weed or anything like that, while some of them are simply afraid of confrontation with the drug user crowd, ha. Our administrator and vice principal, along with their little lackey resource officer, are always going after the kids, however. They take pictures from like, three hundred feet away of kids smoking cigarettes to bust them, and they do whatever they can to get you into the drug-test/search situation.

When I went to catholic school they HATED MY GUTS. I was always "expressing myself" in ways they didn't seem to approve of. Well screw them, I'm out of there (thank god!)

eh i'm in college, no one really cares much here. i just get called hippy alot, get a few comments on the dead shirts. i decided to run cross country this year and my teammates have coined the new term "christadelic" for anything trippy/psycheldic (hence my screen name for this forum) but thats about it.

i go to school with a bunch of hippies.
    i fit in quite nicely.
my school is extremely liberal and VERY SMALL (only about 50 of us) so we get away with murder..
well, not murder but ya catch my drift.

Well, there's different people...my girlfriend's friends all hate me and think i'm a dirty hippie. Many other people stay away from me, cause, well, I don't even know...just for who I am. Most people don't comment. But there's a lot of people who are cool with me, and there are a few other hippies there. So its not much of a problem.
