I enjoy hand embroidery, too. I have found a couple of old books that tell you how to do all types of neat stitches, that has been most helpful. I would suggest looking for one of those. I found one at a thrift store for les than a dollar. It was a good investment.
i already have some books. one of them is the woodstock craftmans guide, its got some really good stuff in it.
I did embroidery a lot as a kid, but only took it up again recently to decorate my knits. It's tedious but in the end looks really great!
It's been awhile since I did much, other than some crazy quilting about a year ago. It's in my genes... my mother, both grandmothers and my great grandmother were into handcrafts, so it filtered down to me. I've done pictures, embellished clothing, etc. Nothing quite as satisfying as a finished piece you designed and executed yourself! Here's one of my purses from last year: But the piece I really love the most, I gave away to a friend. Luckily, I took a picture first: The best thing about embroidery is once you get the hang of the stitches, they're pretty easy to work into whatever you want to do. It was very easy for me to graduate from purchased kits to designing my own projects, and I found it to be a very rewarding and economical hobby. Happy stitching! Judy
