I meant not yay, but gr1m. Anyway, since every damn thread in here seems to wind up in a discussion about Burzum and/or Varg (not in the last place my fault) I thought we'd better give him his own place so the other threads can stay on-topic. So voice your appreciation (or lack thereof) of the band and the man. Discuss the music, the 'Odalist' ideology, the murder, the hairdo...
Lol, now that's hot. So have you heard anything more about Norway holding his parole back 2 more years? I mean, I don't really agree with his thinking and it is true last time he was out on leave they caught him in a car stocked full of weapons... Haha, but is what they are doing right?
It shouldn't be possible. However, I don't really see WHY it shouldn't be possible. If someone during his incarceration doesn't show any improvements in behaviour why can't they decide to keep him there a little longer? I think that should be made possible. I don't know if he's been given a separate trial for the escape... I agree the prison warden or someone can't just decide to add some extra time. That's not his decision to make. For escapes there should be another court hearing to decide what to do next, I think. I dunno, I'm noq quite studying Law...
Heh, i was going to make this thread about a week ago. Anyone know if there's any reason in particular for his chosing "Count Grishnakhe"? If i ever read the reason i've forgotten it, or did it just sound kvlt as fvkk?
Count Grishnakh - He claims the count part is because count means companion in Latin and he wanted to be the companion of the aryan people. This sounds strongly to me like he first just thought it sounded cool, then invented this other part later. Grishnakh was an Uruk-Hai, a paticular kind of Orc that was larger and stronger than most others. Uruk-Hai was an early name for Burzum. What are your fav Burzum songs? Mine are: Ea, Lord Of The Depths War The Crying Orc My Journey To The Stars Dominus Sathanas En Ring Til Å Herske Lost Wisdom Når Himmelen Klarner Det Som En Gang Var (One of the two best metal songs ever!) Tomhet Jesus' Tod Erblicket Die Töchter Des Firmaments Rundgang Um Die Transzendentale Säule Der Singularität Dauði Baldrs Í Heimr Heljar Illa Tiðandi Móti Ragnarokum Die Liebe Nerþus’ Frijôs Einsames Trauern Der Weinende Hadnur Et Hvitt Lys Over Skogen BTW, (in case you haven't noticed) Burzum is my favorite band.
I am wearing a Burzum shirt as we speak. Haha. Anyways, My favorite songs would have to be War, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, Dunkelheit, Jesus A Tod, Et Huitt Lys Over Skagen, Ea, Lord of the Depths, and Det Som En Gang Var.
Yeah, it does. Quite farfetched. Mine have to be A lost forgotten sad spirit My journey to the stars Lost wisdom Det som engang var Dunkelheit Jesus tod Duet with Mayhem All the little birds are singing, all the little flowers are too. They are very happy, and we hope you are too! Panzer, what in your opinion is the other best metal song ever?
The song Home by the band Thorns on the demo Grymyrk. Best song I have ever heard. Makes the hair stand on the back of my neck and sends shivers down my spine. Grimm, dark, tragic, and plaintive, with only guitar and bass. Thorns was the first band to feature classic Norwegian style black metal riff, and was a huge influence on Burzum.
I'll have to check them out then, have to admit I didn't try them out really since I thought they'd be too electronic/experimental, and I like my black metal pure and raw. I have too much candidates running for best song ever to really pick out one.
Well, the thing about Thorns is that they were around for a looong time before their full length was released. They formed in 1989 and released two demos that really influenced every important band in the Norwegian scene, then they broke up. The band was reformed by guitarist Snorre Ruch in 2000 to release the full length. The early demos have absolutly no electronic/experimental element to them. The full length does have a little of that going on but in genral is still guitar based black metal.
The Thorns record is very much black metal with a bit of an industrial/mechnical element to it, but it's raw enough for most elitists to give it praise.
Sounds promising. They're on my 'to check'-list, along with Vargsang, Sigrblot, Buffalo Springfield and Iron Butterfly.
I remember checking out some Thorns vs. Emperor album awhile back and it was actually pretty cool. I haven't listened to it in awhile though. Maybe I will have to dig it back up. ^_^
Upon inspection, Home doesn't really grab me, I'm afraid. But right now I'm listening to 'The discipline of earth', from the split album, which is a VERY good song I must say. Overall, Thorns is probably not my thing.
omg, want want want. last time i downloaded a 'burzum' rarity though it turned out to be ildjarn, ew. reading that description again, I'll say....I'll believe it when I hear it.
The first three Burzum albums are some of the high points of black metal. I can even dig the later albums for what they are. On the topic of Varg himself...leave him in prison forever, I don't give a fuck, I seriously doubt he'll contribute anything else worthwhile to society (or even society's destruction)
