Of course you're right when you talk about the power of religion, but to ignore the social and political elements that stem from injustices and Western policies would to be take a one dimensional view of things....

Oh brother.. someone so desperate to revise and retell recent events that they find a wacky tract from the 1800s and spins that into citing Multiculturalism as a 'right wing' idea.
    LMFAO indeed.

Lets be very very clear and not even pretend we dont know exactly what has happened for the last 30odd years.
MultiCulturalism is absolutely and without a doubt straight out of the most liberal/leftist thinktanks and schools of social engineering.
Its nothing short of a core plank in their ideology and mentality.
Without writing a book on the subject it was right out popularised from your 'boomer' generation and with all the absolute smug faith as possible in their 'prophet' John Lennon and his 'scriptures':
    Imagine.
    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace...

The very basic understandings went something like this:
Religious, cultural and racial ideologies are bad and hurt people,
Especially white, christian ones like ours who are mean and we hate them because they think they are right.
We will prove them wrong and neutralise them and help people by:
Importing many many cultures, races and religions.
Two sort of 'effects' should happen:
-a 'Cancelling out effect' (everyone is claiming this and that so nobody is right)
-a 'Synthesis' effect' (everyones camp merges and mixes, hence there is no separate camps).

In what has to have been the cruelest joke of the century, the entire idea backfired when they realised that the very cultures they were bringing in are just as (if not more) elitist, class orientated and some having far less tolerance for multiculturalism than the previous state of affairs.
    WOOP-FUCKING-OOPS!

but yeah, multiculturalism is a dying off with the baby boomers and its entirely likely that a more rational way of thinking might take over.
American politician Pat Buchanans idea of a 'break period' where maybe immigration gets a few years off is a good idea that almost everyone secretly agrees with.
Including and maybe especially those immigrants that came in more recently.

The American case may, of course, be slightly different, considering that the largest ethnic group is not its indiginous population, and the second largest group were brought over as slaves, not as willing immigrants....

    No, not at all.
America has barely had a few cycles compared worldwide.
You would literally need to spend months in a history class to go over and over which peoples, ethnic groups have replaced or overtaken whatever other ethnicities and indigenous peoples.
China, Japan, Arabia, Russia, Baltics and oh boy the list would go on and on.
    Making it even more fun,
The backstory on which Aboriginals had taken over what aboriginals lands and nations would be another two months of non-stop study itself.
    and,
Of course, many nations in South America, Australia, Canada, South Africa, The Carribean all have similar 'new world' situations like the USA.

Yes, its true that a large immigrant population is descended from people who were unwillingly captured and enslaved and sold by rival tribes (or their own) in Africa.
    but
It seems almost everyone of their great, great grandchildren are more than happy the boat they got thrown on stopped at the right place.
Certainly nowadays, the number of Africans who would love, dream and pray to get a plane ticket to New York would be mindboggling if it was possible.

the bottom line is that multiculturalism is based on the idea that many diff cultures are allowed to coexist as one uber-culture with subcultural pretexts. if someone seriously wants to argue that basic fundamental then they have some serious problematic issues to contront regarding some primal instinicts and general reasoning for the right to live.
