International Rainbow Family of Living Light

24th European Gathering – Yorkshire, England

We joyfully invite you to the 24th European Gathering in Yorkshire, England. The Gathering will start on New moon 26th July and continue till New moon 23rd August. Seed camp starts NOW, so please come now; we need your energy to build up the camp. Bring as much as possible Tarps, Construction Materials, Poles, Pecks to build
communal and personal shelters and Workshop spaces. Be prepared for harsh conditions on site as the land is spacious and dramatic but exposed. There is very little wood for building. So bear that in mind while packing.

The nearest major town is SKIPTON; from there take the B6265 to THRESHFIELD near Grassington. 30 meters past the service station in Threshfield, take first left into
SKIRETHORNS LANE. Continue for ½ mile passing a quarry on the right hand side. At fork in the road turn right into WOOD LANE
, continue for 1/2 mile and bear left into HARD GATE. Continue straight along this road until reaching a farm gate. Pass through the gate and WELCOME HOME........
***There will be ribbons to guide your way***

    => We respectfully suggest that:

    - The Gathering will be drug and alcohol free
    - There will be no vehicles on the site itself
    - We bring in no weapons or plastic
    - Dogs are strongly discouraged as sheep are close by so if brought, keep them under close control and bury their droppings
    - There will be no buying or selling
    - Gatherers use the recycling centre set up on the site. Whatever we pack-in we pack-out!
    - We tread lightly on the land and return it as we found it when we leave
    - We try only to have fires in the kitchen, bakery, communal spaces and the large central sacred fire
    - Our Gatherings are non-electrical. All the energy needed is human energy - self generated
    - Thus we live in peaceful respect for Each Other, the Earth, the Water, the Trees, Plants and the Animals
    - Our Gathering is not a "free" Festival. Money is collected by the Magic Hat after meals in order to buy food and supplies

YOU ARE JOYFULLY INVITED TO JOIN IN AND GET INVOLVED.

How did the gathering go? Did alot of people show up? I'd love to visit something like this but abit closer to home, Yorkshire is a very long way and from Sussex!! Can't say as I'm too keen on camping either, after two attempts a few years ago, taking my two children, I was terrified of something bad happening to them and it was such hard work I had no chance to enjoy myself. That was just camping on regular campsites though, I imagine a gathering of the Rainbow Family would be alot different.

I have only just seen this bit lol

Me and a mate went up to the rainbow gathering it was interesting to say the least.
The site it was on was huge, it was a long walk up to the main feild, where all the tents where - i walked it a few times but i decided to stay down at the car/van field. Apart from the rain they had - it was lucky for us in a way because the night before we arrived there was a downpour and so windy peoples tents blew away!!
It was good though we met some pretty cool people - the only thing i found a bit of a problem was the fact that alot of the people already had groups and it was quite hard trying to get in them IYGWIM. Im sure if we had a few more brits with us all would have been fine. Maybe next time it happens in England choose somewhere down south.

The site was in a sheep pasture! The sheep were still there! Hippies and sheep living in harmony! Way too windy, no fire wood, not enough public shelter, not enough kitchens,
but the people were precious! The locals were trippin'! They loved us too, they'd never seen anything like that in that neck of the world. Actually the weather was really good for England. It was sunny for a week straight when I showed up. Everybody was like, "What's going on here?" Well, it was because I was there, good weather happens to follow me when I travel, I'm not joking! It's wierd
I invited the customs man, it's a funny story, you can read it in Europe> Europe vs. the USA thread

Also, I met people from 27 different countries!
(those were just the ones I met, meaning there were definitely more nationalities present)
